Hello, I was wondering if it would be possible to get a covenant ship to glass. For example, at a ending cutscene a battlecruiser comes in and glasses your ally and the main character, making it the end of the level. Kind of like the halo 2 level Regret after you kill him and a ship glasses where MC was when he dives in the water and escapes the glassing.

That depends on the quality your looking for. The end of Reach might be easiest to replicate, where it glasses and the screen turns white. If so, a recorded animation would work.

Ok, but isn't it imposible to make a custom recorded animation? I'm not sure of this because I wander around in other fourms so I picked up it being imposible. Another thing I'm not sure of is would it be possible to rip the glassing out of the halo 2 regret cutscene? (Not 100% sure what ripping means though...)

Don't worry. The whole planet got destroyed, there are plenty of glasses. Plus, thats not really the end of the game.

Nah, they left Reach. You must be talking about Harvest?

Is this going to get back on topic about how to get a glassing effect and all?

Ripping means to take from a map without consent of the map creator. You know? Rip it from the map? get it? Im not sure about the without consent part though but basically to take from a map.

And it isnt impossible to make a custom recorded animation, it's near impossible to get people to do it though (not trying to discourage)

Do you want to actually see the glass? Or do you just want the effect?
If you want the effect, make a white cylinder and another cylinder around it with an effect similar to the gravlift in halo ce. Then create some effects in and around it. The bloom will be difficult, if not impossible, to replicate though, and that's a huge part of the look of it.

Lies. All lies. The Covenant destroy every last human occupied planet they encounter, and the destroyed planet was described in First Strike.

Thats true but the covenant don't always glass the planet right away, On reach for example they probably would've first searched for anything valuable then glassed everything from orbit.

Recorded animations can't be made, but you can still save animations to .jma I believe and play them with scripts. It's been at least 3 years since I've done it so I'm not sure about the details.

You could take the beam emitter laser and put it inside of the ship. Just have to spin it so that it fires downward instead of up into the sky.

Or make the emmiter wider and a different noise and last longer so it would be more like glassing. Oh and make the color kind of purple-red-blue color to make it look more.

I don't see how the beam emitter looks anything like a glassing effect.
I would probably take the spartan laz0r fire effect and modify it somehow to work.

The beam itself, not the tower from which it is emitted from. :P

Then it would just be a big red ball falling from the sky. An energy projector is a continuous red beam, and the beam emmiter is just a big red ball.

You know how they did the gravlift? Just do that, only red. Animate it to fall from the sky, or use an animated alpha channel (is that possible in halo?).

The covenant gravity lift in a50 uses animated scrolling transparent textures. The same could be done here, but only scrolling-wise.
