--Information Subject to Change--I'm considering creating an MMORPG-style map, using a combination of three interlinking BSP's, provided I can find someone to connect them all via highway tunnels in 3DS. City - Most Jobs and major Stores will be located here. Housing District - Apartments and small Stores will be located here. Docks - The Construction Site and the Robbers' Hideout will be located here. ------------------------------------------------------- Rather than simply being an open world with a ridiculous amount of random tags, I'm going to try a more realistic approach. There will be several jobs, including a police station, hospital, and several stores, all with a particular purpose and unique benefits. Weapons and vehicles will be chosen accordingly. I'm going to try and implement a crude currency system, as well, so players can keep track of money owed. ------------------------------------------------------- Tags:==Drinks (Powerups)== Juggernaut - Overshield* Creep - Active Camo* ==Weaponry== [Universal] Survival Kit [Universal] M6C SOCOM [Civilian] MA5K [Civilian] H3 Shotgun [Civilian] H1 Sniper Rifle (Wood Furniture. [Cov] Banshee - CMT Forgive my short-hand. I'll be happy to further explain anything you may have questions about, and suggestions would be gladly encouraged. *I'll need someone to model and/or reskin these tags... feel free to offer assistance.Edited by Echo77 on Nov 26, 2010 at 01:18 PM

Not sure how I'll compete with 6.2, but I'll give it a shot. I know about the max player limit. I just like the sound of calling it an MMORPG. Sixteen is a big number, after all. :P

Jobs pretty much consist of a building and a related vehicle/weapon set. Everything else is up to the player's imagination. Example: If you wanna be a Cop, you would hang out at the Police Station, which would have Police Cars, SMG's, Battle Rifles, etc. And you'd go around harassing people who didn't do what you wanted. >:P Edited by Echo77 on Nov 24, 2010 at 11:20 PM

Quote: --- Original message by: IcePhoenix lol i wanna be a cop. Of course, there's also the military, and their suped-up Scorpion tank. They get to roll through the streets and blow stuff up with fancy guns. Speaking of which, I need someone to make the default Sniper Rifle look a bit more like a civilian weapon. Could someone make one with wooden furniture and stuff? Maybe remove the clip, too, because I want it to be bolt-action-ish.There's also medical, which means you have access to health stations and ambulances (which will be capable of deploying medpacks), but almost no weaponry. Criminals will get to do pretty much whatever they want. And store owners will get to own stores. Don't really think that one needs much explanation. What would be some other good proffesions? Vigilante? >:D Edited by Echo77 on Nov 25, 2010 at 02:30 AMEdited by Echo77 on Nov 25, 2010 at 09:27 PM

Halo CE RPG? Just... no. Nobody will play this, except 12 year old noobs in parties maxing out at about 4, 5, or 6. Sorry to say, but, Halo is not designed for RPG's. Go play Halo Wars if you want this...

Ok, let me clarify. This is basically going to be just another RPG map. All I'm going to do is make things a bit more tidy and organized. So, helpful criticism or offers of assistance, please, rather than telling me what other people have already said.
You could probably look at this as more of a "Cops and Civs" type map, too, albeit a bit more in-depth on behalf of the civilians. This gives them something to do, aside from wandering aimlessly until they get bored and try to knock off a cop. :P
While I'm not really an RPG fanatic, there are always a few RPG servers up at any given time. Figured if they're so popular, I should try and make one.

so are you actually going to put jobs into this or leave it as a giant city rpg map? If your putting jobs in then i don't think you need it to sync in multiplayer, just let people do their jobs as needed or want to.

Yeah, there won't be anything official that needs to be synced concerning jobs. There'll be a few places set up, and people just say "Hey, I wanna be this" or "Can I be that?". Then they just go around and do whatever that particular profession would do.

So... who wants to gimme a hand with this BSP? I might. All the maps happen to have a locked-down highway. So if you could just knock out those blast doors and connect the three BSP's via tunnels, I could get some things done.

On-topic: So if you choose your job and you didnt like it, you would just walk to the other place and "apply" for one? And looking at the "City" it seems more like a Port City. Add water and some ships in the background? Edited by Skyancez3o4 on Nov 27, 2010 at 08:07 PM

Edited by Skyancez3o4 on Nov 27, 2010 at 08:07 PM Yeah, if you decide you don't want to be something anymore, you can just wander off and find the things you need for a new job. I dunno how to do that. "Headlong" from Halo 2 is going to serve as the docks. No boats, though. :(

The points system in some firefights can suffice as 'money' , cant it? How would trading and working be implemented in this system?

How would trading and working be implemented in this system? Setting up the "point meter" weapon as usable, and semi automatic so as to regulate. The shots spawn ammo for the "point meter". You see where I'm going with this. Actually, that's the exact method I was thinking about. The weapon and the currency will probably share models with the chip from Jenkins' helmet cam, provided I can get them set up to be wieldable by the player. (I'm open to assistance on this part. ^) Anyway, each player would spawn with the currency weapon. You could have a maximum reserve ammunition of one hundred "points/dollars", but you would spawn with around fifteen or twenty. Currency would be scattered throughout the city in random amounts, ranging between 5, 10, and 25, and can be exhanged with other players for items and other services. Now, while this system has its benefits, it also provides a heavy motive for robbery and other criminal activities, due to the fact that your money is with you at all times. Watch yourself out there. >:D I'll probably set up some form of chart denoting the rough value of each object for the players somewhere, too. You don't really get money for working, unless you happen to be a store owner or decide to hire yourself out for other services, such as a body guard, mercenary, or informer. Otherwise, you pretty much have to explore the city for hidden stockpiles and loose change. Edited by Echo77 on Nov 28, 2010 at 12:37 AMEdited by Echo77 on Nov 28, 2010 at 12:42 AM

It probably would be, although I wouldn't have any idea how to do that. And you can't pick up any more money after you reach a hundred, so people would eventually start tie-ing. It's just a simple system to keep people from strolling through and owning everything they lay eyes on.

Well, everything is going to based around a one hundred point currency system, so I'll have to figure out a way of breaking things down into something that will work with that. Nice vid, though. :P
