Tutorial with no scenery (unless its test scenery). For bigger things, I use a large box with simple terrain and a few random buildings.

 This is IMT. I use it for everything. Designed so that you can test stuff without having to open sapien as much, and so you'll never need another test bsp. All the stuff I make is made in IMT, then moved right into the big, final bsp. There's a weapon ideal for testing fp, 3p, and scripts. I have lights you can turn on, to test shaders on weapon models. I have a black rectangle with a grid and a hole under it so I can test fp animation or HUD elements. I have a 3p volume, so I can test readying animation that I'm working on, as well as a new backpack script. Been using this map forever, so it deserves this little tribute.

Either a blank tutorial (I have multiple "tutorial tests" maps in my maps folder... Hmm...) Or a custom (horrible) testing area I made myself. Complete with firing range though.
