Anyone feel cheated that this map pack didn't get completed? I do. Likely more than anyone of you. Never has anything lingering in the back of my mind nagged at me more than not finishing this project. Like was said already in the past, life can really kick you in the balls sometimes and priorities have to take order.

But I ask all of you:

Does anyone out there still love this game as much as I do?
Who wants to see me finish what I started?

PS. I missed you all terribly :(

I'd love for you to finish this; my own map pack was inspired by this map pack not being completed.

I'm honored to hear you admire my work. This project will be completed. I will be logged into xfire again as more develops, I look foward to hearing from you all and to those of you who are now inactive and may never see this project completed, I apologize. I let you all down and I'm sorry.

But I'm back.

Maps like this are what I remembered playing first when I came to HCE, as they were the most popular- the Tiamat ones, specifically. If enough players get in the game and the gameplay elements aren't too terribly unbalanced, maps like this can be really fun to navigate in various different available vehicles and fight using creative twists on familiar weapons. As long as you don't use OS, I support any endeavors to finish something as complex and creative as this. From what I can tell after skimming this thread, me thinks you finally got the maps recovered, yes?

This. So much win. That familiar feeling is definitely there while there are all kinds of new creative twists and game-play aspects never explored before. Stay tuned, I'm not going anywhere xP

I'm not really around much, but I still linger around to check the progress of popular projects from time to time. I would love to see this project completed, though.

Every damn post you do has some form of negativity towards OS, for the last time no one cares.

I really just don't get it. OS just gives more options, Sure it may take a better computer than standard halo, but for Christ sake. It's 2013. Most people have a Win XP or above computer at this point. If you haven't upgraded to something that can handle it, WHY NOT?! I mean Crysis came out 5 years ago and that took WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY more processing power than OS.

I think the hate is not towards OS itself, but towards those who made it maybe?

It's self-hatred. They have a dated computer and simply can't use OpenSauce. It baffles me that half the map community still can't figure out how to install OpenSauce. I'm pretty sure Windows 98 was never listed in the compatibility list for OS V3

I just think there too lazy to i really don't believe many peoples computers can't handle and i highly doubt they can make custom maps but they install a basic program

I could, but you would all be disappointed by the quality of the half finished H3 Pelican and other projects that were started. To be honest, I am still working on a few items that were unfinished before I had my exception problems with Genocide, and my computer BSOD. Those are the only two obstacles remaining preventing the release. I could go back to Genocide's original BSP and my custom H1 Pelicans. I was just trying to make sure when I released these they were of the highest standard I could produce with new vehicles to play with. As busy as my life is, and technical difficulties mixed with bad luck, production has been dragged out to 7 years. Believe me man, if I could walk up to my PC with all my halo data on it and turn it on and boot windows right now I would invite you all out to play the maps with me. As it sits right now if I plug the drive into my PC it does not recognize the drive as even being there. I talked to dudes at a PC repair store and they said they may be able to save the data. I have backups of the compiled maps but I don't want to have to rip my own tags as sometimes the tagset will have some corrupted tags. There are other reasons for me wanting to save my HD's data such as my program files installers and keygens.

So what I'm saying is basically once I save my files, you guys get files. =) This project is not dead by any means. And I come on and post to remind you all that I haven't forgotten about you even if it seems like it sometimes.

It's not a hardware problem, I just tested OS3.1 on a Dell Dimension 3000 A01 with an FX5200. it worked fine.

Fun new maps for HCE, tailored for combat, are rare at this point. Popular new maps are also rare. If this can achieve both, Ender, you have my commendation.

Oh, and some more downloads.

Best of luck with those computer issues!

I would love to see these maps out. I saw this thread when it was posted back in '10 and I always wondered what happened to them.

Bets of luck with the computer issues and I hope they'll be released soon

A perfect snapshot of time in my life. I'm 14, it's summer time and yet I'm inside staring at my computer screen. My life is about to change as I put forth a map with ambition far beyond my talent. Contained within it, the culmination of everything the dedicated team could produce trying to bend Halo's engine far beyond what it was meant to do and at the time we were the revolution. And captured within was our passion and love for the game. And most of all, I set out to do what everyone at the time, Tiamat included, said could simply not be done. Before the map was even launched, an underground network of spies and thieves would set out to thwart the map's production and prevent it's completion. I knew I had something controversial on my hands. After I released it, the community would change forever. I knew after it turned into a huge hit that I had to go bigger, more impossible. With the following winter I tried and failed to get my trinity map pack up and running. Beta test after beta test, the BSP and scripting code fought against me at every turn. Then, the computer I was using died and I lost ability to work on them. Life moved on but in my heart there was a void. Three years later I rebuilt the PC and recovered my data. After getting the maps to near perfection, Father Time once again struck my obsolete, aging development PC. Once again I lost all hope of ever finishing them.

Two weeks ago my friend and I seen this PC boot up again after weeks of working on it. The feeling I got was indescribable.

The ten year anniversary of the release of "Extinction" is drawing near. Once again I'm working on the Trinity Map Pack and plan to release to mark its anniversary. With only 8 months to finish them, It's exciting and reminds me of all the amazing moments I had with this game. So with bumping this ancient thread back to life I ask,

Hello?? Is anybody is awake out there that would love to see these maps finished??
P.S. Holy crap I am getting old

HOLY F-

When I saw this on the first page I thought, "oh look another bump from the dead, I remember this project,"

BUT IT's ACTUALLY BACK

. . .

*cough* so- um, In the years since this was being developed, have you had any changes of heart on the design philosophy of these maps? Altis's "Bigass" map managed to be a very successful miniaturization/recreation of "Hugeass," but that required major deviations from the game-play style of the original.

Do you think extinction/hugeass/coldsnap style gameplay will be received just as well today?
