hey all, today im making my first map and could use some help, i got lots of errors along the way.. also i would like and honest feedback. i was wondering how you import a base . through gmax or sapien, currently im still modeling it. also i would appreciate a few tips on how to model. some cool ideas, etc. heres how its going http://img59.imageshack.us/img59/5096/my1stmap.png Edited by n00b4life97 on Sep 1, 2010 at 05:20 PMok ive started over, and watched a copule new tutorails.. heres what i got.. Ive improved the hills http://img821.imageshack.us/img821/5636/newhills.png gotten a new bitmap for the ground http://img710.imageshack.us/img710/7216/grassmode.png im hoping for the end result to be like this, except.. better :P http://img194.imageshack.us/img194/8880/mapqpc.png im going to add a halo 3 hud along with halo 3 weapon and cmt vehicles and these bipeds, http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/1758/haloce2009062302290739.png if i can, im going to get ai in this map.. maybe UPDATE: Ok, ive made a new map following yip yaps tutorial, im going to add a pillar of Autumn, with the hanger, like in extinction, on the other side will be a few small bases heres what the model looks like so far http://img641.imageshack.us/img641/2180/mymapupdated.png btw does anybody know where i can get a decent pillar of autumn model that also has a hanger? are u serious with that map dude? case if u are well, jsut start over. the reason u got so many damn errors is things are overlapping adn touching , and seems u over inset-ed or rotated items so they are all screwed up. please watch a tutorial, cause this is relaly bad. i may sound mean but just start over.

yeah umm dude its ummm. a box with hills. and flat walls with bad textures. id sugest getting better before a release. watch a few more tutorials.

google is your friend. find some new textures convert to .tiff then put those in your map. it will look so much better then those textures you has

okay to fix to get that texture to only be on your ground,go to your top viewport and left click anywhere on the ground.this should highlight 1 of the ground polygons...hold down the CTRL button while left clicking on all the other parts of your ground and thats's it.apply your texture in the material editor.then to texture only the cliffs area make sure your sky is hidden.go to your front viewport and highlight the cliffs area then apply your texture with the material editor.
just to let you know that when you draw your height map in paint or photoshop,you can make it any shape you want but to practice you should be okay seeing its your first try.also notice how your cliffs have pointed edges...you will see that in yap yaps tutorial he shows how to move vertices to make hills etc...you can also move the vertices that make up your cliff.try to get used to smoothing the cliff edges out to make it look a bit better. Edited by cytronix on Sep 2, 2010 at 03:09 PM ok, im nearly done with the map, i smoothed out the cliffs like you said, and created some hills for a better geometry. cause who likes a flat map? :P the only thing left is to add bases, i plan for red team base to be the pillar of Autumn hanger (like the one from extinction) and blue base to be the base from Valhalla on halo 3, or something similar to it. i just have no idea where to get these models. can someone send me a link? :P Edited by n00b4life97 on Sep 2, 2010 at 04:50 PM
