I know what I am seeing but I want to know what you are perceiving. How would you rate the download speeds lately? Not the one at a time thing people cry and whine about but the actual download speeds. Are they better that they use to be? Are they slow, fast or somewhere inbetween?

Probably faster. Though I am not quite sure because I have not been downloading for a while. I don't think the map I'm downloading right now could qualify a satisfactory assessment since it's just one map.

Did you change something to this server that prompt you to ask us?

Not sure about map downloads, but for me, the forums have been loading much slower than usual- though that might just be my new computer.

DL speeds for me are great and seem to be the same as ever. As far as the forum loading speeds, I never have a problem, and If I do it is only when there are many larger pictures to load.

It's working fine for me. Speed for downloading is fast and the pages load pretty quick.

Now that i think about it, the forums do seem to load faster. I thought it was because i deleted 30 gb of files and defragmented but meh.

I just downloaded classic Sandtrap in less than a minute, and a 148MB file from the h2v section in under 8, usually a single map takes anywhere from 5-8 and a 148 MB would take much longer.

The Forums seem to be a bit spiky whilst loading, Sometimes it loads really quickly, sometimes it takes a few more seconds than you'd expect. The Map downloads and such have been a lot more faster than previously so far, so convenient. It feels far more smoother. It's just that I think the appearance of the website and forums are lacking a "modern" that goes around most gaming forums. If you do decide to change the layout and such, please don't go crazy with grays and blacks. Just make a little less white on the pages (no sexual reference intended).

i haven't been on the forum long but i have used the site for a longtime now for maps & tags etc,
roughly 120kbs im getting per download and i'm sure that's a bit faster than before. As for the forum i find the scrolling through pages to be very fast.

I don't pay much attention to how long it takes to download a file from the site , but it seems faster.

I haven't seen any difference personally, maybe some more oddities about the downloading multiple files when openning other Halomaps page without trying to download.

Normally I'd get around 280-300 kb/sec. Just tried now and was getting 350 kb/sec, although it might just be because it's the morning after July 4th and not too many people are downloading.

They're probably all hungover or still in bed from too much partying last night xP

My main concern right now is not the web pages but the actual file download. I know about the forum and pages at times loading slowly and wil be addressing that later.

The downloads are definitly significantly faster, but why go to the extra trouble of doing so?
The old way was good enough, what do you have to gain?

Started a download simply to test the bandwidth and speed, I'm managing an extra ~100 kbps than I have had previously.

A while ago you got some more bandwidth and speeds went up from ~150-250 kbps to about ~180-325 kbps. That last download averaged 435 kbps.

What was it that you did, Dennis?

Despite being funny that implies you are deep in debt over the Halomaps web site and file servers. Which worries me.

or send a resume straight to Dennis once you hit 18, and make sure you mention that you'll take over moderating the forums here.

You have to be an old fart to moderate , which is about 51 years.

But what if this happens:

"whitefang68 killed Cocaine"

players kill drugs?

um I don't get it.
