A rare sight, indeed.

CryEngine3 isn't out yet, because Crysis 2 isn't out yet.

Pretty much the main big ones would have to be Source, Unreal 3, and CryEngine2.

Source being the most godly of them all, having billions of mods and teams working on every single Valve game creating something entirely different. It's simply mind-boggling, to be factual.

You should make Neverwinter Nights 2 campaigns. It's a Dungeons And Dragons game and the possibilities are endless. It has a brilliant toolset which makes it easy to make levels, and you can make up any storyline you want, and it will still make sense(That's D&D for ya).

yep, the new udk, the whole developers package(not the unreal tournament 3 thing but i mean everything u need to make a full game) is now free(u do have to pay about 20% over 5k$ in profits, but only if u make sales.)

http://www.udk.com

find the download area and download april UDk. hope that helps

as everyone else has said, cryengine and udk are the good main ones. theyre also demanding games in terms of computer power, so if you want something lower end, you might also look at unity.

CryEngine 3, is very amazing, optimized to use maximum of 2gb ram (unless u annihilate a map with several objects)

Like Nov.14 just wait

well the thing is cryengine 2 and 3 arent available to individuals(by this i mean full usage, u cna only use em tru teh game/editors, so u cant really make ur own seperate game, and ur gonna have to pay a big sum for lisencing and such)(u gotta be part of a established group/team). udk anyone can get it, no payments need to be made unless ur successful in sales(above 5k if im right) so i suggest u go with taht. the u3 engine is very very scalable. and editor works kind of like crysis just a bunch more tools stuffed together. but as mentioned earlier want to o slow and easy with something that wont kill ur pc if u got a old one? go unity. unity has a free version of pro(its limited liek no dynamic shadows and maps are size limited etc) but pro is cheap i think 20 dollars(school finally got it after i told em if u cant get u3e cause u need new pc parts get unity. my last semester they finally get it....duuuuurrr....)

The Halo engine is the only game engine in existence. What's your problem?

it would be pretty cool if someone edited the campaign alittle and then ported over to another engine(like UDK) sothat it has better graphics, more variety stuff, etc.

Me and a team of people have done this:we have made alot of parts of our game engine and bought another portion.

The only thing about that is you might have to get M$ or bungie permission and you cant sell it.

I'm pretty sure they would let you give it to others if you give it a cd-key check on install. But you'd have to ask them. Ask Microsoft though. Bungie has lost the rights to Halo as far as I know, and Gearbox are just plain ignorant.

Anyway, you should see about writing your own game engine. It would make it a lot easier to make your own scripts.

making your own game engine as good as todays games by your self would take years.

do what everybody does. go to the UDK or the SDK and make your own. you wont be able to sell it unless you can get the Engine company to sponsor you. which really wouldnt be that hard if you can make one B-A game ever. look at Counter Strike, that wasnt made by an official team but by some one using the half life engine to make their own game and it got enough people to download it Valve Sponsored them and they made a profit!

so:

1: find the engine you want
2: get the tools
3: edit it
4: ???????
5: PROFIT$$$$

You have no idea what you are talking about.
Gearbox gave us the tools to manipulate CE, i am sure that they were not under any contract to do so.

Yes, they did. And then they started completely ignoring CE. Which they even explained in an email to me. Which I think I deleted so I can't post it.

Its not Gearbox's responsibility to update CE.

technically its no ones responsibility. Sawnose just does it cause he wants to. Basically CE and halo PC is unsupported. M$ supposedly has the source code and the rights but the day they give it to us is the day I'm the queen of England

you must have mis understood me. we as in 4 other pro programmers in are free time have made a engine better than at less halo ce.

We used public libraries of physic engines etc, really good ones when I get back on track I will make topic in the forms to let everyone view the project.
You can put halo things in it %100,though thats not what we made it for.

I sont want to make a profit, if i made it, i would just give it out for free. But remaking the campaign would mean doing everything that bungie did(except modeling maybe) on a another engine which could be really complicated.

What confuses me is that a "pro programmer" made so many typing errors in his comment. That must really get annoying when you are programming, seeing as one typing error can bug out or even completely error an entire program.
