Hi, I just got into halo mapping. I have some mapping experience for other games, and can use Blender proficiently and gmax....not so. :X
I made a little square "test" map, and tried to populate it. this was successful. However, when I did the same with custom vehicles (followed instructions to the letter, changed the globals) and none of the custom vehicles show up. I have the feeling I've done something incredibly wrong, but i'm not quite sure what... And yes, I tried them in the 'tutorial' level as well, and the aforementioned vehicles are from halomaps, and loaded in fine. They display in sapien, but not in halo. Someone, please tell me what I did wrong?

Did you set them to "all games" ? and did you check the 8 boxes in properties palatte in sapien? gametypes and default gametypes.

Maniac, that is not the problem.
What is the problem is that you neglected to edit the vehicles into your globals.globals tag. Open it up in Guerilla and scroll it down to the list with MultiPlayer vehicles. Then remove some of the MultiPlayer default vehicles, replacing them with the custom vehicles.
Here is an explanation I typed up some time ago:
You'll need:
Easy Halo Scripter V2 (you can script it yourself but the EHSv2 works better if you're trying to script in more vehicles.
Open up Sapien, and create a ghost, set it to spawn on all gametypes. Place it in some place the player cannot reach. Name it check_vehicle Then add all your other vehicles, and give them all different names, and place them next to check_vehicle. Make SURE they're in a place the player CANNOT reach, or this will result in several techincal difficulties.
Go to Mission>Game Data> Trigger Volumes in the Sapien Hierachy view
Go to the properties view, and name your trigger volume
Then go to game view, and right click to place the trigger. A small box should appear. You will now notice that it is simply too small to contain all your vehicles. Drag the sides of the box, that should make the box bigger. Make sure ALL your vehicles are placed inside the trigger.
Then, to go to Mission>Game Data>Flags
Place as many Flags as you want vehicles. Place them where you want your vehicles to appear in-game.
Then use Easy Halo Scripter, fill in the name of your trigger, flags, and vehicles.
Save the script as a .hsc file, in levels\mapname\scripts
If there is no scripts folder in the map's folder, you have to create one
Go back to Sapien, click 'File' in the top left hand corner, and 'Compile Scripts'.

Thanks for the script help. I also tried replacing default vehicles, but they came up blank too. Am i missing something? ....So, I actually have to remove the originals from the globals for it to work? Edited by cheezburger on Oct 29, 2009 at 01:42 PM

When you said you had edited the globals exactly how the tut said, i presumed that you had. Therefore came to the conclusion that you had not set things right in sapien.

globals support only 6 vehicles ... you keep your default vehicles ... then add custom vehicle to sapien .. save close .. go to globals .. delete one of custom vehis and add custom one ...
and dont forget to check allowed on gametype you test on .. check default too, cuz it might depend what gametype you load, and what original vehi you have replaced custom one with
i remember having problem with vehicles when i started map making, but its really not that hard Edited by aco on Nov 4, 2009 at 01:50 AM
