to rip Bsps from halo 2 maps can you rip from the pc maps or just the xbox ones? im using the Halo 2 BSP Explorer V1.03b tool.

You can only rip from the Xbox maps.

Its Halo 2 Vista. Also you can rip from H2V, but its a longer and harder process than just simply ripping from H2X

Doesn't exist, you pirated a copy that's been lingering around for XP or simply used a workaround method on a legal copy like i did, it's not officially supported in any way.

Don't know, only a couple people can rip form retail, and they obviously wouldn't tell any stranger, for obvious reasons.

you would need smarts, knowledge in Hex, and knowledge in C, C#, or C++ programming. And math skills.

Why don't we just rip all the Halo 2 maps and set up a map pack for them?

You can rip from any game as long as you're good enough. If you don't know how to make your own tools though only Halo 2 Xbox maps a rippable. Search for Entity H2 which can be found on halomods.com. Open the map from which you want to rip from. Scroll down until you find the tag .sbsp. Select the BSP you want (only one in Multiplayer maps) and under a menu on the left you will see extract as .obj. Click this and you will have a the maps BSP in a usable format. I noticed though that Entity doesn't extract single player maps properly so i wouldn't use it for that.

That's why I'm asking, I'd be highly interested in looking at the Halo 2 single player map files from the source but Entity freezes well before it's over. Anyone have another solution?

Because entity does the trick for small files, not BSPs. It can usually extract models such as Marathon cruiser but not say Cairo Station interior bsp.

Need the fix errors after you rip a halo 2 map, which depending one the map is not an easy task but I've been able to do it :D the only thing is I'm not good at skinning and shadering :(.
