I don't care about canon and non-canon.
It's just the fact that it is yet another Halo game. It's getting kind of old. And this one just seems like a final attempt for M$ to milk whatever is left of the Halo franchise.

Don't say that until Halo 3 pc, and it turns out with SecuROM + Locked hekv3.

this topic is so much fail.

Halo 3 ODST is so much fail...

Sim, shut up. If you played the game, then I'd bet you'd like it. Also, you're IN a HALO forum. Kind of hypocritical with your retaliation.

I really love how people say that a certain game sucks when all they have seen are pictures and videos.

A reason I hate ODST is because it's on a disk. 1 hour and 30 minute campaign and one new mode couldn't be a DLC apparently.

I played Halo 3. Didn't impress me. Which means Halo 3 ODST will more than likely be just as unimpressive.
It's getting to be like a broken record. The franchise will just continue to get duller and duller. Beating a dead horse pretty much. It's getting worse than Mario.

And last time I checked, this was a Halo Custom Edition forum, not a Halo 3 ODST forum. I don't have to like it, and it is not being hypocritical. Hypocritical would be if I came in here and said "HALO 1 AND HALO CE SUCKS."

And to charge even more for it. It cost more to put out a disc than it does to just have a download. So obviously they are going to charge more for it.

Nothing is. But it's sad when they have to make repetition rather than innovate something new. But then again "if it works, don't fix it." Whatever.
I don't plan to.

And to back you up, I played halo 3: odst at a friends house and it wasn't worth 60$ more like 1,200 Microsoft points or something in that range.

While I also agree it shouldn't have been the price of a full game, I still think it should have been more than it's original price: $40 (I believe). I mean come on, you've got the WHOLE Halo 3 Multiplayer experience on a disk, and then a completely new game mode with 10 maps, and a campaign that (from what I've seen) looks well made and fun to play, while still keeping a Halo feel.

To me it wasn't much of a halo feel without the flood, sentinels and a halo, it felt more like another urban alien shooter game.

Oh and we also have another halo 3 multiplayer experience, it's called halo 3...

He was added because This is showing what the hell happened FIRST before Halo 3. Also without him, who would take care of the freaking ODST's?

Ok, so go buy the old Halo 3, instead of Halo 3 ODST, which has more than Halo 3.

This. And because it wouldn't be Halo without Johnson.

It wasn't canon. That wasn't the legendary ending. The real ending is before the credits.

It was just an extra, akin to the Johnson seen at the end of Halo CE legendary.

My God, you'd think this would be obvious.

Also, ODST is more than worth the money. You people haven't played it. My friends and I are going through the campaign for the third time and having a blast. We were also going through firefight getting high scores, and the entire afternoon went by super fast.

Its on a disc, because of all of the new stuff.. and the slightly modified game engine... You can't really download a full game engine and complete new content including a giant map...

And stop biatching about the dam game. If you havn't played it then just shut up, seriously. You can't judge something you havn't played.

And who cares if its not "cannon"... Its a game, not real life! Stop being freaks and saying things like that and play the game or get friends... your all doing my head in.

Your wrong. Halo: Reach will be the 'Final' attempt. Scratch that Halo: Legends will be the 'Final' attempt. I don't see the big problem with this game. So far nobody has posted any legit reason why this game isn't as up to par with Halo 3. The campaign is fun, it's a great break from being a super soldier. The single player does not take an hour and a half to beat, Try 3 or 4 (Sure it's not long but you have to remember it was made in less than a year and was suppose to be DLC). Not to mention firefight mode. Sure FF isn't amazing and it just seems like I'm playing co-op sp with 4 friends but it's still fun and different. The people who are claiming that it sucks who haven't played it yet are the ones who suck at games you actually have to take cover with. I like ODST and plan on playing it just as much as Halo 3.

One year of work for a studio = $60

You have to look at the work involved in production.

If you played the game you'd see how much work went into it, whether or not you like it or hate it, if you enjoy Halo 1 but hated Halo 3 there's a chance you'd really enjoy Halo ODST. It feels much more like the original than any of the other games.

The only reason people are sore about the price was because they said it was just going to be an expansion at first.

People, Bungie has said this too many times, the game was switched from an expansion to a FULL DEVELOPED GAME, with a few engine modifications. Get it through your skulls. It's only called Halo3: ODST for licensing agreements. Every company has to pay the publisher a certain sum for a title and Bungie got a good price for it.

This. And Bungie doesn't do pricing. Rage at Microsoft for that. Not that they'll listen.

Ok.

There are places where you can RENT games.

If you're going to sit there and 6itch how you just wasted 60 bucks on a game that should of been a download, No one will care.

And there's nothing you can do about it.

Next time, RENT a game before you choose to buy it.

yeah no its not 1 hour and 30 minutes. depending on how you play it, it can last anywhere between 4 and 8 hours.

also id like to introduce you to a little thing i call "replay value". its something ODST has that halo 3' campaign does not

yes this.

and if youre basing your opinion of ODST off of halo 3, then youre just as bad as the people who judge it without playing any halo games. ODST plays so differently than halo 3. also, soundtrack. has nobody even thought to mention it? it has a totally new sound, and is by far the best one so far.

I bought the soundtrack today. It's pretty nice, But Halo 1 and 2's were more "epic" per say then these ones. Yes ODST had some epic tracks, but if you go threw the OST, there's alot of slow dull parts in places.

i enjoyed the slower pace in places. and im not saying this game tops 1 or 2, im just saying that the sountrack conveys emotion that i have never gotten from any of the other soundtracks. the other halo soundtracks are more epic in a sense that they have more parts that get your adrenaline going, but the odst soundtrack depicts the atmosphere so well.

E: slower pace referring to both music and gameplay

really, if we're judging things based on sound, halo is the most badass game ever. Cutscenes are not a thing you have to sit through and watch, its a treat. The music of halo makes everything seem more awesome.
