or AT LEAST in firefight. the brutes are exactly what theyre called: brutes. they just stand there and shoot. theyre not smart like elites. they dont use any tactics. i want elites

Here's one of my five reasons now that I'm not feeling so lazy.

When Regret left to Delta Halo, There were more Brutes on the ground than Elites.The brutes and elites have always competed and they hate each other, so brutes decide they want all the glory for capturing virgl (the engineer that is the superintendent) and uncovering the ark, which undoubtedly would give THE BRUTES a higher spot on the floor of the great journey.So, without Regret (really the only hierarch that prefers elites) gone and out of contact, they ambushed and overwhelmed what remained of the elite army that masterchief didn't kill or didn't board regret's carrier,and slaughtered them.

That kind of sounds like what a brute would do...

your reason is based on false information. first off, you never even see brutes outside of cutscenes in halo 2 until after you kill the prophet of regret. virgil was not captured during the story of odst. he "holed up" in the superintendent's room. the brutes are TRYING to KILL him. thats why you escort him to the dropship.
the elites were always the guards of the prophets. they wernt preferred by only one prophet, they were preferred by everyone. the reason they were replaced by brutes is BECAUSE the chief killed the prophet of regret. remember that fight? there were no brutes there, they were all elites. the prophets ruled that the elites were no longer good enough to protect the prophets. one of the elites even says "*sigh* politics... how tiresome." the full blown covenant civil war broke out after the arbiter learned from "the oracle" aka 343 guilty spark that the prophets were following a false prophecy, and that the great journey was really nothing more that a massive suicide cult.

seriously go back and play the games before you try to explain canon to me.

They were trying to capture AND kill virgil who was holed up in the superintendent's room.

Regret likes elites
Mercy is the mediator

Elites are the sole protectors of the covenant, but Truth didn't prefer them.
Killing Regret gave Truth an opportunity to replace the elites,which outraged the elites, then truth ordered tartaurous to kill the arbiter, remember that?as well as having the brutes kill the elite council members.The arbiter is rescued by gravemind and decides to listen to what GS and PT said, but the other elites fought because the brutes had murdered the other elites.and if you listened to any of the audio files you'd know that though brutes were only in the h2 cutscenes,they were really all over.Also if you had read ghosts of onyx and the story of voro you'd know the elites knew nothing of the great journey being a fake and still proceeded to track the spartans down to onyx.

I always liked Elites more than brutes. They just seem to have so much more character to them.

Regardless I do like fighting brutes more because I just hate them so much lol

I still think that my explaination was way better than any of the people who try to class it as non-canon. Truth is , Bungie likes Canon , thats why there is a Halo 2 and 3.

I like brutes more than elites.Maybe that's why I don't mind not fighting elites in h3odst.

i prefer fighting elites rather than brutes, as elites are a lot more tactical, and brutes are simply..........bullet sponges.
