Ok, well I want to start making a map on GMAX this summer. I'm looking at a new laptop (because my other computer is over 4 years old with almost no graphics rendering) and I want to know if it would be good to use GMAX on. It's an HP DV 7-1279wm with NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT graphics. It's got dual channel RAM, so I can run up to 2 gigs dedicated to graphics if I wanted. How well would this run GMAX (and HCE) ?

Pretty dang good. Just about any video card made from 2000 and newer can run Halo pretty darn well. Except for those maps like TM Fracture, you will lag like no tomorrow.

If you really need your labtop for portability then get it. If you're going to use it like an average computer I would get a desktop only because it would be more powerful and overall cheaper. It would solve both your questions, but that's only if you don't need the portability of a labtop. Over the past 2 years I went through 2 labtops and now I'm settled with a desktop that I wish I bought from the beginning.

But halo PC is a purdy low end game (graphics wise), theres very few existing computers that can't run it.

Haha. And thanks, guys. I do need the portability of a laptop, because not onlywill I be using it for gaming, but I need it for school.
