Hey guys, I wanted to ask you about your ideal halo map. If you could snap your finger and have it to play on, what would it be? Why would you like it so much? For the gameplay, enviorment, or even a sentimental feeling.


For me, I would want a snow map that is extremely large. It would have quite a few vehicles BUT the map would be equally accessible on foot. It would be hard to make, but it would be great. The map would be divided in the center by a large field with high grass, but the bases would be in the woods. Their would be numerous vehicle and foot paths. Some having random landmines, fallen tree's and broken bridges. The snow would be coming down extremely hard, not a few flakes but CONSTANTLY. The visibilty would kind of cripple you, but would play in to help out the gameplay.

Well, i've always wanted a map that's like the
Omaha beach, but in the future.

So one team starts at the boats, the other on this bunkers ontop of the hill.

It's sunny out with explosions being set off once in a while.



OR.

i always wanted a infection type map, where it's a city with houses and such, each house contains a weapon that can help you succeed.

and a hospital and gunshops (gun shops having lots of guns, but low defence)

A map with helmetless spartans and their faces are random armor permutaitons that are all accurate recreations of our faces. The setting: A white building with winding corridors and one dark blue line along the top of the walls. The maps name: halomaps.org forum battle grounds. Where trolling is life threatening.

Flood growth everywhere, spores floating around reducing your visibility, pulsating bulbs scattered across the map, and hints of purple, covenant metal peeking out from underneath.

infection forms running around, Flood campaign's HUD, and an overpowered sentinel beam.

but yeah, Dennis with a gravity/ban-hammer would be pretty sweet.

I Like maps that are designed for CTF like WarTorn Cove but have large forerunner structures like Hydrolysis. I would like to see someone design a level that at one end was a lush jungle envoriment with a large partially exposed structure and the other a beach front with a smaller structure. The entire level would be an open "s" canyon with a central large area and 2 choke points. Maybe have a waterfall and stream running from the top of jungle structure to the ocean front as if it cut a path to the sea.

If you ever get a chance, can you draw up a layout and me and higuy could possibly do this during the summer o_O I'm actually loving your idea. Seems like my kind of map.

A flood-themed map. (Not Isolation from Halo 3.) I mean almost entirely a flood environment. I imagine this would be harder than modeling covenant architecture, but its just something I'd like to see. I believe someone at modacity is making a map with flood environment.

An urban enviroment thats completely destroyed, and has fliage growing on it, like an abandoned modern city, with Russian styled architecture. It would feature a wide variety of custom, weapons, and the sky would show a covenant/human battle.

A mystical forest, filled with small, serene hills and quiet rivers, and a lake at the centre of the map. At the centre of the lake, there's a majestic forerunner building of an unknown purpose. Inside the structure, its dark. A ramp leads you in a spiral towards the roof. Along the ramp, there are lots of windows looking into dark and dingy rooms, which show signs of an ancient flood infection. This is intended to be a mystery: what was this structure used for? A research lab?

The map shall be called Enigma. Enigma means 'A dark, obscure, or inexplicable saying; a riddle; a statement, the hidden meaning of which is to be discovered or guessed,' which perfectly fits the map theme.

I actually proposed this idea to Unevenelefant, who made the basic layout, but he gave up on it as he was busy, and sent it to me. Its progressing slowly, due to Gmax's limited capabilities >:|

If any person would be kind enough to help me on this, that would be great.

The original idea was something like this:


The idea was that the entire thing was in a canyon and on the beach side it resembled something like this geometry only with a base with pipes into the sea like a pumping station and with palm trees and a real tropical beach feel.



then on the jungle side it would have very high cliffs maybe backed into a mountain with hanging vines with plant growth on the clifs sort of like this.


The structure could be partly burried with a long angual extension covering most of the small vallley that looked something like the legs on Hydrolysis:



The key to game play are the choke points in the central area and the main ways to the base by hog and also the elevated trails with cover and hiding places. Maybe if you wanted to keep the "pumping station" feel then you could have exposed pipes in the canyon.

Anyway that was my idea. I have neither the time nor the skill to make it but if it inspires you to create something I would be pleased.

A Massive open map, day or night with high peak mountains surrounding the entire map, not just a portion. Hidden caves are located high in the mountains, with gun and custom missle emplacements defending each teams main base, which is enterable through one of the caves. Each team must cooperate very closely in order to win. Map with mountains similar in size to Coldsnap, but entirely enclosing the map.

Custom missle launchers located high in a couple of mountain caves fire warheads with the approximate punch of a C4 to slow invaders, but with missles slow enough and enough time between reloads to out-maneuver in a hog (if lucky). No nuke longswords, mythos or scarab type killing machines. Fighter jets would be ok to take out artillary and missle emplacements to allow your team time to get closer to the other teams base before they respawn, if at all. Pelicans could be used for troop and vehicle transport. Identical vehicles, weapons and defenses should be used for each team for an even slate. Maybe locate a nuke tag, or carry a portable nuke that can be deployed to destroy everything within the other teams base.

Locate some passages in the mountains, and in the central map area to traverse the map in some areas. Maybe different forks or passages would lead you to various outlets to keep your opponent guessing where you might exit.
