Your map was like 99% acurate to something I was talking to higuy a little while back. Only difference was the chokepoint brachned off and had 2 pathways to the base instead of one however I like yours much better.
my theme was also desert but jungle is much cooler.
Maybe we can find a way to incorporate a desert oasis that slowly blends into a dense jungle.

A double path way would probably work as well. I was thinking that the hogs would use the main route and runners could use the elevated trail if it had some covered areas to hid in. I like the look of most of the Halo environments but most of them are just one environment where the textures and vegetation are all the same. What I envisioned was like what you describe a desert like beach front that fades back into the canyon and turns into a heavily vegetated jungle setting with a forerunner ruin that has been either exposed as in partially excavated or partially buried over time. Feel free to run with it and if you use the idea be sure to call it your own, I make no claims to it and offer it freely. ps: What happened to your's and Higuy's Fracture map? That one looked really nice in how you handled the distant mountains.

My ultimate map would be one where teamwork was absolutely necessary. And a vertical playing environment, like a cliff.
There would be a fortress at the top, with multiple paths and climbs to reach the fortress. Foundations extending into the base of the cliff could be used as shelter, and sections of the cliff could be destroyed to tumble down and kill unwary climbers.
That, or a wonderful single player campaign that matches and beats the original Bungie campaign in length, story, originality, surprise, and gameplay.

If I still modeled I would totally model that. It sounds like a map that would be very popular.

Were still working on it. ^_^
Its on Maniacs shoulders atm to finish the textures and it will be done
I have a really good idea for a single pathway. The elevated walkway along the cliff will be kindof pockmakred with caves. Some of them deep and some very shallow and some that kindof branchoff into a semi cave system and connect to each other. It won't be huge but its just something to give the player cover. Kindof like the cliff wall is honeycombed and has dense brush all arround the walkway.

I can't think of any Halo CE map that incorporate much vertical game play. Although the destructable enviroment could not be done in Halo CE the idea of having to climb or wind your way around a mountain to get to the top base would definitely make it a novel map.

You could simulate falling rocks with vehicles at the top that look like rocks. Then you could melee or grenade them over the cliffs.

I wouldn't add rocks as vehicles for a couple reasons. If you have them up there to knock off the cliff chances are that your not going to hit anybody. It would say Hold "E" to flip rock so there would be no reason to use a grenade or melee. Not to mention it wouldn't be in the ground. The rock would sit on the very top of the ground which would look stupid.

This thread is awesome. It gives me so many good ideas as long as people don't clutter it up with rediculous ideas.
If You don't mind, I'd like to request this thread be stickied.

Quote: --- Original message by: DennisQuote: --- Original message by: Disaster If you ever get a chance, can you draw up a layout and me and higuy could possibly do this during the summer o_O I'm actually loving your idea. Seems like my kind of map. The original idea was something like this: The idea was that the entire thing was in a canyon and on the beach side it resembled something like this geometry only with a base with pipes into the sea like a pumping station and with palm trees and a real tropical beach feel. then on the jungle side it would have very high cliffs maybe backed into a mountain with hanging vines with plant growth on the clifs sort of like this. The structure could be partly burried with a long angual extension covering most of the small vallley that looked something like the legs on Hydrolysis: The key to game play are the choke points in the central area and the main ways to the base by hog and also the elevated trails with cover and hiding places. Maybe if you wanted to keep the "pumping station" feel then you could have exposed pipes in the canyon. Anyway that was my idea. I have neither the time nor the skill to make it but if it inspires you to create something I would be pleased. The mind of a genius at work.

Well, i was always wishing that Bungie Would remake Blood GUlch for Halo 3. So far, it's a no im guessing. So i decided, why not just make one up. I decided to give this Emtpy Canyon something to make it have a purpose, So i made it into a Mining Facility. here's a sketch i made: When i mean mining tools i mean things like this: But more futuristic. The texture for this would be the ordinary Blood gulch textures, Some grass, couple trees, and a desert like style to it. Sort of the like the Grand Canyon.

What about a banshee coming out of a loading zone in the cliff walls? And you need a teleporter to get to the banshee.

Quote: --- Original message by: DennisQuote: --- Original message by: K_I_D Hey guys, I wanted to ask you about your ideal halo map. If you could snap your finger and have it to play on, what would it be? Why would you like it so much? For the gameplay, enviorment, or even a sentimental feeling. I Like maps that are designed for CTF like WarTorn Cove but have large forerunner structures like Hydrolysis. I would like to see someone design a level that at one end was a lush jungle envoriment with a large partially exposed structure and the other a beach front with a smaller structure. The entire level would be an open "s" canyon with a central large area and 2 choke points. Maybe have a waterfall and stream running from the top of jungle structure to the ocean front as if it cut a path to the sea. WarTorn Cove http://hce.halomaps.org/index.cfm?fid=289Hydrolysis http://hce.halomaps.org/index.cfm?fid=2611 Ah yes, I agree with this as well. The CTF oriented maps always seem to be the best organized and most visually appealing.

I think 'Normandy' from world war 2. Sort of like American Island hopping back then. Bunkers on the front of the beach , Flag in inland base. Somewhat like Death Island , but more ways to get down and up instead of the 2 or so teleporters and passages.
