The snipers do when you get near to them. They drop their rifles and run like wimps.

These were outfitted with certain prototype energy deflector shields, which were used for Spartan IIIs. These aren't as strong as the ones that the MJOLNIR armor has.
Besides, the Jackals get a shield. And since they can withstand a shotgun blast to the face, I would assume that they could survive 100 rounds per minute from a MA5K.

How about Hell Jumping High Charity's.
But on-topic, not many people like Jackals, as you much as you so obviously do, and therefore it would be better if you just named the group or whatever, "Hell Jumpers", thought it wouldn't surprise me if that name was already taken.

the Kig-yar were space-faring long before joining the Covenant. As such the Jackals are unique among Covenant races: rather than faithful followers of the Prophets' religion, they are mercenaries working for the Covenant

ODSTs don't have energy shields. I haven't read much of the stories, but I doubt any ODSTs were outfitted with any prototypes with energy shields.
Even then, I wouldn't go as far to say "100 jackals got pwned by 2 ODSTs" when ODSTs weren't even official AI in Halo 1. Edited by Marka Haiyana on Apr 2, 2009 at 06:57 PM

Ah, but the canon doesn't say that they weren't. ODSTs were used as "experiments" before. The SPI armor using the camoflauge was tested on ODSTs first. Therefore, it would be reasonable that they were used to test energy shields.
And even though ODSTs weren't official AI in Halo 1, he wasn't talking about Halo 1 when he referred to jackals with beam rifles. I merely rigged up a demonstration in Halo 1's engine.

They have a rank and place in the covenant higher than Grunts and If i was a sniper Jackal and some odst or Marine came up to me I would Run to because of the Physical weaknesses i would have and to go out and fight knowing that, that weakness can be the one thing that kills you is something a ODST will NEVER BE Willing to do. This is why Sniper Jackals are the lucky ones because they don't get a piece of crap Plasma Pistol. And you failed to change my mind, Odst's and Jackals make a good pair lets say there are 500 odst's and jackals vs 1,000 Brutes, The Odst's will GO HEAD ON into the FIGHT and the Jackals Snipe the Brutes from a cliff side The Odst's and the Jackals could hold their own for a long time. [The clan is now up and running]

*Records video of Sniper ODSTs vs Sniper Jackals* They're only better than grunts, because according to the higher-ups, anything's better than a grunt. They do have better reflexes and sight, but they aren't officially part of the Covenant. And check out the video A Day at the Beach. The Jackal just did aim has good as the others maybe because well that Jackal could have been 15 to 21 years old and was not use to the sniper rifle i his hand but the shot came close the killing that odst.

2 shots missed. The ODST hit on the first try. ODSTs and other marines are usually 20 years old or so when they are enlisted. How old must a Jackal be in order to be "good"? If this isn't enough, I'd be happy to record a video of Jackals vs ODSTs, both with sniper rifles.
