1. About

As you all now know, MP2SPMT is working on a new project (we're searching for name suggestions, so far we haven't come up with a good name yet. Suggest names for our map, and we'll give you credit)

The map is a mod of SnowTorn Cove Remix. So sue us.

2. The story
(written by Gamma927 and I)

Deep below the icy regions of the human colony of Biko, lies ancient forerunner technology, monuments to an age long past. The Covenant prophets want to find this 'holy' technology, and that therefore keeps the Covenant from glassing that bit of the planet.

October 12th, 2525
Colony of Biko

It's been 3 long, painful months. Ever since the arrival of Covenant warships, our forces have dug in, and fought them off. They've arrived once, twice, three times, but in the end, we managed to repel them. However, their true strength was yet to be known. On the morning of October 10th, they launched a first strike at our field headquarters. They came in numbers, little ones in front, big ones in the back. We managed to hold them off for a few minutes, until our .50 cals were knocked out. As we pulled back towards the center of the base, Mjr. Sullivan ordered a retreat. We never finished his order. As we were pulling back, we were flanked by Sword elites, and they executed three-quarters of our men. Poor Major Sullivan was one of them. Now? Us three are all that's left.

However, we have one clue intercepted by one of our recon scouts before contact was lost with them. Its in the form of an encrypted message from one of their Elite warriors. We don't have the faintest idea what the damned thing means:

From: Sangheili [[Fleet Master Yano 'Idamee]] to [[Holy One [[Regret]] ]]
Greetings, Holy One. All is going exactly as you have predicted, which is a true testimony of your undisputed divinity. The Enemy's base has been overrun, and our fighters are finishing off the last of them as I write this report in the [[Honourable chamber of the Ancients]]. Soon, a path should be opened into the [[valley of giants]] and the Humans shall face the infinite power of the great beings. We shall enter the inner chambers with pride, march forward to eternal salvation.

3. Unit list and all that stuff

Covenant

Grunts
Jackals
Elites
Hunters
Prophet (?)

Human

Marine regulars

Orbital Drop Shock Troopers (ODSTs)

Spartan (?)

Vehicles

Ghost - Standard Covenant Light assault Vehicle. Most often deployed with Grunt drivers.

Banshee - Covenant Air assault vehicles

Plasma Turret - Stationary turret. The user is protected by an energy shield that deflects all human weapons but is vulnerable to Plasma fire.

Spectre - A Covenant vehicle, most often used by Elites. It has a crew of one gunner and one driver, and has side seats where two more troops can sit and fire from.

Wraith - Covenant version of human tanks. If you're lucky, you can kill the driver and get the wraith. If not, it blows up.

AA Wraith - Brownish coloured Wraith used for Anti-air purposes. Has dual fuel rod cannon launchers that home in on air targets. http://www.xfire.com/video/7e35b/

Phantom - Standard covenant transport dropship.

Warthog - Standard UNSC ground vehicle. Weaponry can vary.

M41 LAAG Turret - Stationary version of the anti-aircraft turret found on certain warthogs.

Pelican: Standard human transport dropship

Scorpion MBT (?)

4. Pics, videos, and other assorted media
Pre-Alpha pics (some of the stuff in here might not even be in the mod at all (btw, you play as the ODST gunner and an AI marine is driving):

5. How much is done?

At current it is about 10% done.

You should probably slow down and work on one thing at a time. Get it up to standards, release it if you choose (or use it as a learning step, whatever you decide to do with it), and then start on another one.

I've seen a lot of these topics around here from you. Maybe it's just me, but you all are working on too many things at once and not really getting anything done. Slow down.

Use these Halo 2 Warthog tags:
http://hce.halomaps.org/index.cfm?fid=1893

It has regional damage, and can explode.

i dont know if we are using that warthog. But doesnt it says when peices fall of the warthog
"Press E To Flip Missing String" for every peice? i would rather suggest making the warthog explosed and have a permutation that shows it blown up. Like the ghost or the wraith where it has smoke and it doesnt have peices flying off it.

Thanks, I'll use those. Also, Polamee, I was thinking we could use one topic. I don't think the community appreciates us creating a new topic for every single project that we want to create. And I said it would be secret until we had at least part of it completed. More of it is completed than you actually know. I'll inform you on that over xfire. In the meantime, more information will be given on Monday. The pictures are just to show that we haven't been lazy, and I did something.

No, some people just want a map where they can spawn AI from the menu. By the way, I got Kornman v2 to work, and I was playing around. I think I know how to add widgets, but the problem is that: 1) I need to make the AI box larger. 2) I need to add a new string. Could you log into xfire?

Wow, copy catting is a big deal in this forum. :P

Oh well, I'll either find another level to replace STC, or keep it and add my own twists. I'm talking about Project 2 of course, which has multiple open sourced BSPs throughout the maps here.

Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't know that. You can still use it. It's just that when I got the idea for a warthog run, SnowTorn Cove fit the idea that I had in mind.

Its a coincidence. Gamma came up with the idea, we did not copy it from anyone.

Actually, I didn't come up with the idea. After reading gruntkilla's thread about the Yoyorast idea, I decided to think about a warthog run. Halo 2 strengthened my idea. After browsing through the large maps on Halomaps, SnowTorn Cove was the one that fit best. In the preview picture itself, it has large winding tunnels, a large open area, and everything I needed to begin my idea. Of course, @ DarkHalo, you can still use it if you want. We aren't preventing you from. After all, our levels are probably very different.

Not that modifying the other maps are wrong or anything.

Polamee sounds so defensive..... I do not want to make this a fight. How about we both use SnowTorn Cove?

Oh don't worry about dude. I was just being comical. >:U

You'll probably make it turn out better than mine, plus, mine is going to be a lot more fast-paced in the short run.

Ok good news, I got enough space to install CE and the HEK again.

But I'm only using the following tags, not ripping from any others:

Multiplayer Scenario tags, and all the Single Player tag packs. I can't go over my disk space which is 1.99 GB on drive 2.

I thought we decided to not work for CE anymore. :O

I tested the map. It was good, the warthg run was different, which made it fun. I've replayed it 3 times now. My only suggestion is to make the hog run longer, and give the AR a reload sound.

Hog runs have always been my favorite part of halo

you should definitely make it longer.

Don't worry, this is just one third of the level, the rest is still WIP. I blame Gamma for giving it out at such an early stage (no offence to Gamma)

Nothing wrong with a few alpha testers.... Also, @ Polamee, since so many people love the warthog run, should I re-do the part that I have in place? Or should I keep it, but add Warthog Run Part 2?

No. The earlier the better. If we want to lengthen the warthog run, we must do an overhaul, removing all later parts. That's why I had testers now. If they found an error, we could fix it early, instead of having to do it later.

I finished the big battle already >.<

But since it's similar enough, we won't take it.

Update: Put in two new features (dunno how Polamee feels about them)

*Regeneration Mode. Every 5 minutes or so, hit the flashlight button to commence healing. Screen distorts, making it harder to see enemies, and the game slows down. During that time, you are vulnerable to attack, but if you survive, you have full health again.

*Possessed Mode. You cannot toggle this. This will take place when you must enter the second warthog. Since I don't want you to fly into the warthog's seat, you will be possessed by an AI actor who will walk you to that seat.

None of this is permanent, but regeneration mode sure makes it easier for me to play it through. Not that easy though.

Incoming Transmission------- Accepted
File Encryption Type WOLFINSHEEPSCLOTHING
Opening File............

To: Commander of UNSC Forces

Marine scouts have reported that the covenant are on the move. They seem to have unearthed an ancient forerunner structure.

----- Opening attached file

----File Opened----

Recommended course of action: Investigate

------ End Transmission.

The screen effect won't be there ingame. I just decided to use it because I was bored, and to take the picture. Picture of Regeneration mode:

The distortion is temporary, and it offsets the free health that you get. @ Polamee, I will send you Build 1.0.1045.0000 after Wednesday. This is Build 1042. Still needs a lot of work, as you can see.

One more:

By the way, it'll be an AI driver.

Another update, when you zoom with the assault rifle or the shotgun, it'll look the same as if you zoomed in Halo 2 or Halo 3.
