while looking in my powerups tag folder, I noticed two spare files, double speed.equipment and full-spectrum vision.equipment, didn't think much of it until I noticed that when you use cheat_all_powerups, you get two "broken" powerups that say you got ammo for Flamerthrower.
together it makes me think Bungie wanted to make a Vision-killer Powerup, and a Speedup.
What do you think?
(Sorry if someone already pointed this out >.<)

It's been pointed out multiple times. The full-spectrum vision doesn't work. The double speed works, but doesn't sync online. I heard it will either exception the game or lag the server to death if it's used in an MP map.

In SP, the double speed doesn't really work very well. I played around with it, and in my point of view, everyone else was slowed down, while you moved at a normal pace. However, once you restart the level, it wouldn't turn off, so the only way to get rid of it was to re-compile the map. I removed it >.<

they were powerups which were intended to be put ingame but were never completed and were ported with the game so it could be used by modders, such as the human boat physics and the engineers

That's how it's supposed to work. Think about it: if everything around you is moving at half speed, but you're still moving normal speed, then everything you do is at double speed relative to everything else.

No, you're both wrong: It makes everything but you go half-speed. Really you are going double the speed as the enemy, but you don't go any faster/slower than you normally did.

Double speed fails because it also slows down the speed and reaction times of any vehicle the player is in, along with the rate of fire of that vehicle's weapons.

If you have a slower rate of fire, you can aim individual shots more easily. If your vehicle is slower, then you can have twice the amount of time to plan your movements. It was meant to be that way.

do you realize that if the double speed slows everything else down, its not going to sync online, right? because it doesnt.

um, how exactly is double speed supposed to sync? the only way that would work is if it increases YOUR speed by 2, not cut the speed of everything else in half. but it DOESNT increase your speed by 2, does it? so there really isnt any conceivable way for this to sync online

Yah it makes you fast, like if you die a couple times or more. In a multiplayer round, it makes you move fast, but it ALSO makes everything slow: throw a nade, and it will fly super slow :/

and my point still stands doesnt it? if it slows everything down for YOU because YOU got the powerup and nobody else did, HOW would the game support everything else happening in normal time? it wouldnt. hence, it doesnt sync.

plz note that we were warping back to the place we where in as soon as my friend picked up the power up. At 1st it looked as if everyone was going to lag out, but it turn out to be the power up that did it, so we nicknamed it the gay up, well i came up with the nickname gay up, but that's beside the point.

Or maybe that's why it wasn't put into the original game. Maybe we should all think about why they didn't put it into the game....

There is no way to sync it. You can't make yourself move at a normal pace and everything else slow, while still allowing the other players to play at a normal speed.

If they made everyone else go slow, then it would sync if coded right, but it would result in horrible gameplay.
