when i download maps from halomaps.org, it always works but now suddenly when i download a map, my winrar cant extract it and says the file is damaged and it cant extract it either. i dont see the map file either

I use Windows to open zips, and 7 zip to open everything else. Too bad Windows doesn't open rars.

If the zip archive is damaged then your download was most likely cut off. As to the reasons why it might have been cut off, refer to this article: - option 3

i mean i used to be able to open but when i extract it the map file just looks like a blank screen with 3 books in the middle

Get 7-zip, my friend. Or even better yet, uninstall Winrar, and open the zip with Windows.
