Go on idiots. You enjoy the freakin vid. Shows how PATHETIC you all are. You are low life scums most of you. Thinking its right and funny to use other people's work and then make fun of it when you like and decide. I dont give a fig if I get banned. This is just another reason that you guys cant even release anything. H3MT actually did something, but most of you guys stay and enjoy the drama that goes around here. I dont give a f8cks about what you guys think. Dennis, you say why protect maps? Look at that vid. You tell me now.. is that why people make maps? For others to use and then make it look bad? I dont care if you say this is not an argument, this us proof of what happens. Most of the people here are like kids on drugs. GTFO and save your computer and these kinds of threads from people who actually give a f8ck about life....

Feel free to ban me.

Also, Who gives you the right to tell others what to do with there own work?

i find map protection stupid; you are not bungie, so stop posing as it.

you're so predictable... i actually expected more kittens this time though.
anyways, i read as much as i could and i came down on a few things...

for one, in any situation, there's the positive, neutral, and negative. varying on each person's perspective.

here, in analogy, it is the extremists, the neutral, and then those who don't really care much.

the extremists, are trying to make halo seem like it is of great importance... do not compare it to important matters. if you're as big-timer as you're trying to seem, you'd know that halo is nowhere near. grunt, i know what type of person you are, i was like you. stop lying to yourself, you're looking rather pathetic. joshflighter... please come up with something better; the video on youtube is obviously similar to a consiprator's perspective of bush. an attack made by a person, to himself, in mere hopes of causing fear and hate towards another person. (check for yourself at the video's date.) see who you're trusting CMT. you want respect, earn it. people don't respect those who are stuck-up, they pitty. Donut, you taught me a few good things, but i disagree with you in several points.

the neutral are those who understand the importance of halo and non-virtual work. learning things about halo will not lead us to develop something more useful to humanity than leisure. that contradicts your whole defense of why we should learn about this... leisure is what has lead us deeper into idleness. so why learn ways of repelling more learning?

the ones who don't care are the ones who are meant to do the manual labor. their purpose is to live, serve, and die. it isn't so bad because they are happy with that, and we are happy with their sevitude

i am ok with Dennis locking this... although it seems to have become a new thread for debating over the protection of maps and other abstract issues

This, Halo CE, is a hobby and a game not a business or a competition. So if you make maps or models to gain praise from other people you will be sorely disappointed. If you make maps because you enjoy it then it doesn't matter what others say or think.
.

Quit acting like little immature kids, when I know you aren't. It's just sad, that you can't understand that this is only the beginning of your life of hell. Get over the leak, it happens, even to Bungie. What do they do? They ignore it and keep working, because they know the final product will be great, especially when they had a good time making it. Now shut up and leave the poor kid alone.

i am sick-minded yes... and a butthole to other buttholes, who are bound on remaining so. or was i the one to begin with the insults? i find the "go die" ones most amazing... i wonder if you are under 13 or just suicidal.

except for all of the people who move on from halo to professional game design. yes i realize what you said is supposed to be an example of a point of view, but its an ignorant point of view when you consider that modding halo will naturally lead you to learning windows functions, becoming a better typist, and possibly knowing about scripting too.

think about how many jobs are being lost in america. i know that not all of your are from america, but im pretty sure a good portion of you are. but its improbable that you will hold up a single job for your entire life. its good to be well rounded so you can work in multiple fields. yes there is the defense that this is "just for fun", and it should be fun, but it should also be a learning experience for concepts that you can apply to other situations later in life. let me put it this way, between game maker and halo custom edition, i went from a technologically illiterate social conformist to the technologically savvy computer artist you all know and (sometimes) love.
i am living proof of how game modding can change a person's life. not much you can do in the way of arguing with that
Edit: hi, what happened to the civilized debate with the Lincoln quotes? can anybody here maintain a calm mood?

I went from this:
http://s256.photobucket.com/albums/hh194/UnevenElefant5/?action=view¤t=CRUSHER.jpg

to this:

I also went from not understanding anything AT ALL about creating games, to knowing a lot more about the blam1 engine, the game creation process, modelling, rendering, physics, animating, a little scripting, and very little programming. All of these things will come in handy when I apply for a job at a game creation studio, which I plan to do.

lol at bold. That was a VERY VERY early attempt at modelling. And, yeah it makes me feel more secure because if modelling doesn't work out then I have multiple other things to fall back on.

This might just be one of the craziest threads in Halomaps.org Forum History...from the YouTube video with that voice, to all the pics, the Go Die statement, and on and on.

This is just a GAME! Let me repeat: This is just a GAME!

When you get this serious and upset about modding a 5 year old game, its time to step back, watch some TV, pump some iron, talk to a real person (not in a forum), drink a beer (if your old enough), and just simply get a life. Modding Halo CE is supposed to be fun, not a blood pressure raising Rage Fest...please just don't take it all so seriously.

You all need to ask yourself one question: What is the ultimate goal here with creating and modding maps?

Have to admit that I've gotten a few chuckles out of reading through this long mess, especially some of the Dead Thread pics!

I realize that the goal now is to have fun and shoot things, however, you guys just don't realize the 3-D modeling skills that you are developing for use in real life applications for Architecture and Engineering. Just keep it up, and one day soon you will be able to make a lot of money as you polish your skills developing Halo CE maps and tags.

For those of you in your teens, you already have a leg up on the competition. I know folks in their 20s and 30s making at least $40 to $50 grand modeling buildings as well as engineering components in 3D.

Geez, you thought you were just having some fun making maps...

I started Halo modding because I wanted to make drivable pelicans. Now my goal is to get hired at a well known studio like Bungie.
