One question, since i heard people talking about that maya was better for animating (in like 3d movies) than 3ds max. Can someone explain to me whats better about it?

Maya is used in most of those children's organic animations. 3Ds max has softimage Cat and it has a built in Motion builter. I prefer 3ds max.
In b4 Disaster comes.

Maya is better than 3ds max, for animation.
Why you ask?
Well I will tell you why....
Its because 3ds Max is designed mainly for modeling, and Maya is designed completely for animation.

The UI in Maya is confusing to me, but its probably because I'm so used to 3ds Max's controls and keyboard shortcuts.

in my experience, max has better basic modeling tools than maya, however maya has proven to be easier with uvw mapping and animation. im not sure how much better it is as my experience with it has boiled down to about 4 hours per day for about 2 weeks at a college excursion. honestly, i think whatever you started on, whatever you used to learn the concepts of the 3d space and tools for geometry manipulation, is what you will consider to be better. also just in advance, until version 7.5 (i think 7.5), maya was owned by Allias (might have the spelling wrong). the rights to the program were bought by autodesk, so the argument that they are both by the same company isnt very sturdy edit: holy god, this is my 4001st post. ... i reaaaaaaaaly need to find something else to look forward to lol Edited by Donut on Jan 8, 2009 at 04:28 PM
