If there was such thing as a Covenant AA battery, what would it look like?

Shades don't count because they attack ground too, and AA wraiths don't count because they are mobile.

I'm going to use it in a SP map, where the MC gets host down over a Vietnam-style jungle. It features marines driving warthogs, the flamethrower, and a new AI in your head.

You mean an AI other than Cortana? Good... Also, the Halo 3 Shade turret looks like an AA battery, but you don't want it

What I had in mind was a sort of missile battery, slightly smaller than that, and has an obvious cockpit. But that works too, although it might totally obliterate a pelican...

this is off topic, but it looks very 40k Tau-ish.

The Shade is pretty much the AA in Halo 1. Halo 2 had the Fuel Rod Cannon as seen in "The Arbiter". Halo 3 uses the Fuel Rods not only on the Fuel Rod Cannon [Or Flak Cannon] but on the Wraiths.

So your options are limited.

Also, that huge gun is for deflecting Ship Attacks. Its like a Covenant Mac Gun.

You can change the projectiles it fires, and make it shoot at air targets

Why not the Covenant Gun Tower from Halo 2 Beta... I think it's in Extinction (the map).

I was actually thinking of using that, but is it too big? What level of damage would it deal to a pelican?

I thought that was Artillery :| Anyways, that wouldn't be too big if you scaled it down some.

It's more Anti Aircraft. In the Halo 2 Beta it shoots down a Longsword.

i cant get it ingame. I think it has to do with the camera tracks, cuz i cant get the original working, either.

E: oh wait, it doesn't want to make collision geometry.

No, actually, a wounded Sergeant (I think it was Stacker) called in an air strike (before giving you his M7), where a pair of Longswords made a low altitude run (it couldn't of been more than 100 yards above the battery) and take out the thing.

However, i want to mention, that

A) it looks different from the Extinction version (being shorter and larger).
B) It was not purely AA. It was a plasma mortar and it could act as Anti Air as well as Artillery
C) Covenant AA appears to be Red, not Purple. This is demonstrated as such:
CA) The AA Wraith is Red
CB) The Planetary battery was Red

It should be noted that the Planetary Bettery (Giant Red Thing) was firing at the ships in low orbit, most likely. This is plausible as they were being set up around the Ark, where a Low-Level strike was going to be amassed against the ships digging it out.

Another example is that the Halo 2 Scarab was widely theorized to be a non-combat vehicle, and was as such not the covenant military purple of Ground Units and Starships.

If i were doing this, i would make the Human alternantive: Missiles. Either tracking or Dumbfire. Its up to you. As such:

The covenant version could be, Fuel Rods. A larger device could have several Plasma Torpedos. It could also have a plasma mortar, like seen in Extinction

A homing missile equivalent is a fuel rod. In Halo 3, they had slight homing

Homing as compared to Slight homing? Thats like comparing a Guided Missile to a Flak Cannon. Hence you require compensation. I believe the Plasma Torpedos were held together by a magnetic field around them, and as such, could be directed. Though they would be large, long distance, powerful shots, primarily against things like dropships; nothing fast.

Daaaaaaaamn, you really need to get your facts straight and learn to spell.

First off, just rip the Halo 2 AA gun from Extinction if you want the older design. Secondly, darkassasin14, how can we scale down the Halo 3 AA gun if nobody has the model? :)
