Ghost town was no remake but some of the devs said it felt like warlock... or something... I forgot which map, but it was a Halo 2 one that it felt like.... I think...
I will have to look, but I am too lazy atm.

Ugh, I've been trying to work on finalizing Hoth's BSP, but my gf keeps popping up when I'm in the middle of modeling and wanting me to do something with her.
I can probably get some stuff done in the next hour, I told her I'd meet her for a date at 2:30, and it's 1:30 now.

Plane modeling gets every little detail in. You can use boxes or extrudes SOMETIMES, but very rarely.

OK, I've been getting back into the swing of things.
Anyway, at the request of H2V... Err... Modacity, I've redone the AT-AT's hull. The exterior is FAR more detailed than its previous incarnation, and I'm working on the interior.
As for the gameplay: Halo, by nature, is a slower FPS. It's meant for slower combat, than say, Unreal Tournament or Team Fortress 2, where the guns kill you in a few hits. This changes that. I'm aiming for a Star Wars feel, that feeling you had when you watched the movies for the first time. Meaning inaccurate blaster bolts flying every which way, which kill in a few hits. In multiplayer, the changes I've made make for hectic combat. It FEELS like Star Wars, the Imperials have the big, fast guns with huge weaknesses, long overheating/reloading time and poor accuracy, while the Rebels have less powerful, slower-firing guns, but they don't overheat as quickly, reward accuracy, and have few weaknesses. It's a shame Halo 1 didn't have built-in voicechat, as teamwork could come in handy. There ARE no more shields, unless you are in a shielded vehicle, which have varying degrees of shielding. All TIE vehicles are flimsy and have no shielding, but have powerful weapons with fast firing, but a long overheat. The Rebel vehicles have varying levels of shields, listed from most powerful shields to least: Y-Wing, X-Wing, A-Wing. The more shields, the slower rate of fire (Shielding takes a lot of power). However, you have to be pushing an X-Wing HARD to overheat it, and Y-Wings don't overheat at all. The missing shields make combat a lot quicker, requiring the use of strategy to get to the flag. You don't die in one hit (Mostly), you can survive longer, but you definitely start to panic when you realize you took a hit. Also gone is a HUD, except in vehicles. You DO have a health bar at the top of the screen, but nothing else, making for a more realistic experience. I know, it's pretty silly to focus on realism in something based on science fiction, but it does add a good flavor to the mod, making it seem like a new game altogether.
Hoth, in particular, is a really fun map, with plenty of corridors for close-range gun battles, and a main wide-open area made for longer range combat and vehicles. No sniper, don't worry. The Rebels have a more fortified base where they can hide, and there are plenty of ways to exploit the biggest weakness of an AT-AT: Its speed. The Imperials are kept on the lookout for Snowspeeders exiting the base, and hardly ever pay attention to the turrets or infantry that can attack them from all over. A smart team will take advantage of the fact that there are 2 AT-ATs to make sure that most of the turrets are taken care of before they become a threat, and to make sure that the Snowspeeders don't make it too close. If you can get underneath an AT-AT, though, you can bring it down. And the AT-ATs have a LONG respawn time, so the Rebels DO stand a chance if they can eliminate the Imperial AT-ATs. The map has built-in autobalance, partly so that the teams stay relatively even, partly so that I can write scripts based on one team only, like team permutations and keeping teams from boarding their own vehicles. While it is a pretty large map, the special respawn system I set up keeps the combat going WITHOUT huge trips across the map, with the side effect of the Imperials not always spawning in their "Base". The Rebels also have special spawns that activate when Imperials get too close to the base, and deactivate when the Power Generator is destroyed. That power generator is a MAJOR asset to the Rebels. When the defense system it provides is active, the base is impenetrable from ANY attacks, with only one exit being left unsealed. However, since the Imperials can't enter, the Rebels can't exit, either. This gives them time to set up a defense from inside their base, while the Imperials set up an offense from outside the doors. This leads to an epic firefight once the doors open, with a pretty even outcome, each team wins about half the time. If the Imperials win the firefight, they then need to keep the Rebels down while one of their teammates makes off with the flag. If the Rebels can bring down the AT-ATs, they can win the game in the time it takes the AT-ATs to respawn, UNLESS the Imperials switch from offense to defense quickly, and take out the Snowspeeder(s) that come their way to make off with a quick flag cap. Overall, Hoth is a fun and balanced asymmetrical map. The unique spawn system keeps down the travel time from base to base; the Imperials spawn either in their AT-AT OR next to whoever on their team has made it to closest to the Rebel base, using a system that checks if an Imperial has made it into a certain trigger volume, and, if he has, it spawns the players IN that general area. If someone progresses farther, they pass into a DIFFERENT trigger volume, and the players will spawn there. The vehicles DO tend to dominate the open area of the map, but there are alternate routes through caves and such, where vehicles are not a problem, and, if an AT-AT is eliminated, the other will fall quickly, and a role reversal will occur, with the Imperials defending until they can get their AT-ATs back.
I WOULD show you some ingame screenshots, but nothing is textured (lol). I need to get to work on some textures for the map.

I realy like the mags position, like the gun in Timeshift. The gun is to scale with canon sources; it's just a big gun. TK says he tried to angle the mag in the animation so it would slide past his head. He's built a real-life model of this himself from some scrap metal at his workshop, so he'd be better at animating it.

Hey, Jay, there's a Battlefield 1942 StarWars mod called Galactic Conquest. If you get that you could probably get some refs from it. They pulled everything off pretty nicely, in my opinion.
