It's been a few months in development but i am pleased to finally release info on my checkers map project. The map is done, i am just working on some final touches, mostly the read me.

This i think is the first halo ce board game map. This is for those who want to play checkers in a unique halo enviroment.

This is not a halo fighting map, it's an actual way to play checkers.

So i hope some of you like it. It will be uploaded to halomaps within a week.

its cool but would take ages to finish a match thats y when it comes out me and my mates are gonna try it out at school nice job!!!!!

It shouldn't take any longer to finish a game of halo checkers then it would a normal board game of checkers.

Im optimistic that you could find someone. But this is mostly made for people to play with friends in a server.

I decided to use ghosts to give it a halo feel. I did not plan on making checker pieces for that reason. Ghosts work perfectly and let you play checkers while still keeping a halo feel.

So you can explain how this works? To start off:
1) How do you deal with noobs who cheat, as in, they keep moving around to different squares
when they shouldn't?
2) Can a max of 16 people play?
3) So how do you 'jump' people and make them go back behind your side?

the map is only set for 2 players on slayer.

1. Boot them, only play with friends on a password server, hope to find honest players.

2. there is 1 board, so 2 people can play at a time. meant to play on a 2 person server.

3. jumps. drive over the ghost. then one of the players should drive the jumped ghost off the board.

keep im mind this is mostly meant to play with friends.

i don't think anyone will make that, as monopoly requires cards. but any board game that only used dice or pieces could be made. checkers may be the only ce board game made.

I know it's abit late for BSP changes, but just bear with me.

is it possible that a podium could be made on each end (behind the king ghosts) so that people can go up there when it's not their turn (so as to avoid getting accidentally squished) and to get a better view of the board? (and for spectators).

I think that would make it even cooler ;)

i recomend people use 3rd person while playing, it will be in the read me. It does not really need a podium thing as really the board is still small enough to see all the way across and still get a good view even without 3rd. I don't think it needs bsp changes. Let me post some more screens so you guys can get a better feel for its size. and then you can tell me if you still think it needs a podium.

you can view the board very easily, so i don't think it needs a podium. but if enough of you think it does then i prob will try to get it added.

if you don't want to alter the BSP, you could make make a custom scenery for the podium (though if you do change the BSP, the towers really do need some work (perhaps tile the textures to avoid the massive warp going on?))

massive, warp. sry i don't understand squat about texturing. maniac did all texturing and i personally think it looks perfect. I don't know what you mean by massive warp. did you want a pic of just the ground under MC's feet, could that help you judge better?

yes im running all this by maniac, we are in discussion on what you guys are saying.

podium as scenery will most likely be whats done.

on the tower thing, it looks like it's leaning over and the texture is really stretched.

yea i could have done a better job but thats a bad angle and the tower is not straight. i did not want to tile it as i wanted only 1 pattern on it and did not unwrap it which i should have. but he wanted it to look old and i think it does.

maybe a little but you don't really see it in game. But thanks for telling me in such a sprited way lol. But it's not really enough to hugely effect the look of the map.

yes i did kind of want it to look anicent, and maniac is right thats sort of a bad angle. It still looks amazing to me. i think some of that is due to maniac having to remodel the faces of those towers for texturing.

maniac is working on adjusting the model. prime sky? Arn't the prime maps dark though? i do not want a dark map. i wanted something sort of forest like and played during the day

we are still thinking about what do to. but adding teleporters like that may make the map look retarted. im leaning toward scenery but maniac is adjusting the BSP so he may just add a podium in there while he is doing it

It was not laggy at all for me. anyone with a P4 procession (most people at least have this or something equal to it or better) should run it fine. plus it's meant to mostly be played in a 2 person server.

the map is not big enough to support tree scenery. but the sky is pretty much all forest so it still looks good.

No i am removing the weapons on the ghosts before final release, they won't shoot.

take pieces. you drive over them and then you or your oponent remove it from the board. all play is manual.

those are the towers for the map that you climb up to get a better look of the field. the sides are ramps you can walk up. i even added a little relaxed music tune into the map.

all is done except we are having some problems with the ghosts spawning when you restart the game.

Yep its come along way from when you made the original bsp tower model. but maniac1000 is who made it happen. he did all the texturing for the map and ghosts, he is good at texturing and did such a good job. I was project lead, thats all. Not many people would take on a project and work so well with the person with the idea.

disco checkers, i think too many checkers varients would be corney and lame.
