The post count is correct and is true. The actual number does not matter.

Maybe to prevent people from bragging about having a higher post count than anyone else?

In the past I have been accused of having no sense of humor and as soon as I have a little fun, at the expense of people who count posts, I am now not acting like myself. There is no winning with you guys

There have been way too many people spending time counting their posts instead of make the ones they do write meaningful so I removed the counts and substituted something obviously facetious. My original idea was to make the numbers random.

and i had like 199! mb this is my 200...but now i dont know!!!

well we dont have sigs....now no post counts.....how about if u remove the avatar (that we cant even get a custom pic ) lol jk jk.........and then u could get out our names so everyone is called the same and we say: hi im XXX (so u know who he is bcuze we wont have names) jk jk lol

Of the last five people who seriously tried hacking our servers All now have a permanent FBI record two are still in litigation being sued by one of our corporate clients, one is due for sentencing next month and 2 are out of the country but have had their IP segments blocked at the router. Serious hacking attempts we take very, very seriously.

They don't show in the topics until they make 1 post.

You are seriously misinformed this form and websites have never been hacked! Ever! No one has ever gained elevated or admin access or access to anything other than what I have given. The one incident you may be referring to was when the JavaScript avatar upload was not fully turned off, due to a poorly coded security model. There was no elevation of privileges and no harm to the forum. It was easily corrected. I did not write this forum software so I am finding and correcting things as they occur and as time allows.
That privilege was abused and is now gone forever.

It is not hacking at all. Once the web page is on your PC you can do whatever you want with it and it will not make any changes to the site. JavaScript only runs within your web browser there is no server side component to it (I am not talking about AJAX) so whatever you do with the page in your browser it never shows up on the actual website.

Hacking, for the record and in this context, is someone trying to gain elevated privileges, information or delete or destroy information from our servers by exploiting a security flaw in the software. We host servers and websites for a couple of large corporate clients (one known buy two letters 7 & 5 - you can figure it out ) and they have plenty of legal clout to throw behind any serious hacking attempt. The web server these gamming websites reside on is sandboxed and even if someone did find a hole they could not do any serious damage to our network. However we will prosecute all serious attempts. No one has made one on this machine, there is nothing to gain. I cannot discuss the other attempts other than to say they all failed.

i cant believen anyone would actually want to hack halomaps. its a totally non-profit site. thats why i didnt freak when i saw the post count. it is starting to bug me though, id rather see nothing there. but i do like ganons suggestion for a REP system, though i guess it would completely go against dennis's reason for removing the post count

I leave for 2 days, more chaos. Last time it was newbie flood, now post count is not showing in topics. Lol, I could care less, all I know is I have more than all of you...

I would love it if post count was brought back. I seen very limited cases of people trying to use their post count to say then are better then others. Did those limited cases suggest that we needed to get rid of post count totally? I liked my post count and never even once threw it in anyones face. I just liked having it there as it showed how much and for how long i have enjoyed this forum.

please Dennis bring it back. Or maybe just block the post count of people who have been using it to say they are better then others.

i know that but i still want my post count under my user name. It just meant something to me as sort of a symbol of how long i have been a part of this community. I just don't see why post count can't be displayed under our user names. I have been a loyal member of this community and i want that to show. Please don't remove post counts.

No custom avatars, no sigs (i understand those and am all for it) but i don't understand this post thing. I hope Dennis is just doing this to have a little fun with us.

Many of us have been good members to this community could at least those of us who have been get our post count displayed.

That's why it says when you joined right above your avatar.

I gotta say though... It could have a capital M in more at least.... Lol, I liked it too... But Dennis is right, it does over inflate peoples egos.... And some people think it does and use it against them... (Some locked topic in H2V... I found it odd)

I always thought you joined the forums before me Rm.... Same with Guru... and cheats... Wow...

yhea, i really agree with rm. like if i was just joining the forums and theres no sig or real post count, i miight think that hguru is an arogant noob. or maby that teh ganon is some όίκr 1337 batch virii haX0r. its like 3 scences on forums- posts, avatar, avatar quote, and sig. but noooooo for halomaps. we only have one scence, the avatar quote! no avatar cause you cant browse ur comp for images. it would also be cool if ppl get promoted to be a moderator, like ganon,caboose,rm,hguru would help out

Honestly, (please don't take offense ganon), but I wouldn't go with Ganon... He can be a little hot-headed at times.... Me too, but not as often as I used to.... And barely even with people I don't know...
