But, what is the event about, exactly?

The Penny Arcade Expo is a series of gaming festivals held in Seattle, Boston and Melbourne, Australia. Did I help?

So I remember there was going to be backpack weapons, has that idea been dropped?
Also I thought that the skirmishers could use same ranks as the jackals since they are "nearly" the same.

Just out of curiosity; i dont know if this was ever mentioned or not but out of all the levels why did you pick B30 to do the evolved level instead of say... AoTC? Is it because the silent cartographer is an "iconic" halo level?

If i remember right from when they first announced TSC:E, yes, that was the reason. The Library may recieve the same treatment because of how poorly it was originally laid out (though thats just speculation on my part).

The library might get the evolved treatment. And masters said there will be two bonus levels (I think).
For D20 since it will have snow some of the coolant pools should be frozen and maybe fog to go with it.

Mostly cause it was one of the most beautiful levels and offers lots of diverse gameplay. There were lots of plans to really expand the island based on original ideas of Bungies and their concept art, not all which really materialized for us though.

It wouldn't be coolant if it froze.

I'd also like to see an evolved library.

And if I had to speculate, because two betrayals uses b40's level design, it can't be the next evolved level. Keyes and the Maw are in a similar situation, as they use a similar layout to T&R and A10, respectively. So that only leaves either Guilty Spark or the Library. The Library is a pathetically drab level that could really use the evolved treatment, but GS is an iconic level in the sense that it's where we all experienced the flood for the first time, so it could go either way

The Library evolved sounds like a good idea. Original library was just a maze of death even on legendary.
343 GS could be another evolved level but it's good as it is but maybe more scarier.

I remember running through Halo CE the first time on Easy, and I still had to give the library one or two tries. I went back and played it on legendary a few years later, and I don't think I ever finished.

An evolved campaign may take years to complete.
SPV3 C40 is going to be longer than B40.

Oh good news. C10 has a scary feel, quite can't put my finger on it. And for the savage covenant how long will they appear in part 2? And savage covenant is the best idea you guys came up with ;)

^ That would take a ludicrous amount of time, effort, and resources. More than are being used for this already ambitious project.

Backpack weapons are only useful in multiplayer, and a waste of space in singleplayer.

I feel c20 evolved should still retain some labyrinth-like elements, just not be so gosh darn repetitive. A good way to do this is to have the level wrap-around itself like in the original silent cartographer (anyone here play Dark Souls?). This can be emphasized with the use of switches for forerunner tech. Elevators, light-bridges, and grav-lifts can transform the environment, making the map itself a character. Like playing inside a puzzle-box.

Anyway, will Marines/ODSTs still have small, invisible shields to make them more durable?

As I understand it, as the campaign progresses (particularly after the Flood are unleashed), the Covenant forces on the ring will become increasingly desperate as supplies and reinforcements dwindle. In the later levels, they will be fighting harder and making use of whatever equipment they can get their hands on, regardless of its origins.

Which is a total bust. The only vehicle they can use is the ghost. Speaking of which what covenant vehicles can the marines use in SPV3? And are there any spec-ops skirmishers too?

Committing acts such as these, especially commandeering human technology and weaponry, is viewed as blaspheme in the Covenant doctrine, and is considered heresy by the Covenant hegemony. The Halo: Encyclopedia even states that, in Sangheili culture, one would combat his opponents with his own hands before picking up and using an "infidel's'" weapon.

I'm not very comfortable with giving the Covenant the ability to use human weapons, nor do I sponsor the idea of allowing them to become savage and panic-stricken in extreme crisis. The Sangheili are a quite confident and headstrong species, and their confidence and discipline also helps assist with keeping morale up in the less tenacious and skittish of the Covenant's alien species.

The elites are the only member of the covenant who we will never have wield human weapons. The brutes and jackals are the ones we will be using them primarily, with some grunts and skirmishers using pistols and smgs.

I do have to say giving elites the ability to use human weapons is something I always found ridiculous in bungie's games. It totally ruined the image of the elites and looked super silly.

If you have to, I'd give one out of every 10-15 or so Elites after The Library a melee weapon of some kind, though not an energy sword, to show they're getting desperate.

And while this is the general consensus on the Covenant ideal, to say that every single member of the faction is this dogmatic and holds doctrine as a higher priority than self-preservation seems a bit far fetched. While an Elite might fight hand-to-hand in the midst of a heated engagement, if he survives the battle and has no other alternatives, I suspect that he's not going to regroup with his fellows and go out on another mission armed with nothing but his bare hands. Even the Prophet of Truth utilized human technology to a degree in "Halo: The Cole Protocol" when he felt the ends justified the means.

An inexorably sweeping juggernaut like the Flood, the likes of which the Covenant had never seen before, would probably be enough to make at least some Elites crack under the pressure. I doubt that they'd become "savage" in the sense that they lost all common sense, but I think they'd probably fight harder and be more willing to bend a few rules.

The Elites: Stick to their codes of conduct depending on how things go and they use all covenant equipment.
The Brutes: They go rogue and start using human equipment (I'm not sure about forerunner equipment).
The grunts: Same things goes, use magnum's, smgs and/or maybe rocket launchers.
The jackals and skirmishers: Same as the grunts but use ranged weapons (battle rifle, dmr and sniper rifle).
The hunters: Unknown.
I'm writing this on how I think about it.

Not happy with a Jackal aiming a DMR at me, but their aim is so bad, It might not be a problem.
