While you guys definitely seem to have the right idea with how the encounter should be interesting and play, the enemy placement, like a lot of your other encounters I've seen thus far, are falling victim to this problem again. Either the enemy's are overpowered or a bit too tough, or the person playing simply sucks at the game. I'm going to with that there's a bit too many and possibly overpowered enemy's. Just try toning it down a little bit in terms of the enemy's presence, and see how it plays out. It's definitely coming along and looks great, but could definitely use some improvement there. Same thing goes with the CE3 footage you guys showed - the laser beam weapon at the beginning of the new a30 should be cut and kept to a smaller encounter that's easier to play. Introduce the beam laser weapon sometime and in a interesting way rather than in a simple little encounter that people have already played... If you're going to introduce new content, introduce it in a new area made for it. Just my idea. Edited by Higuy on Jul 16, 2013 at 03:17 PM

Okay, here's my criticism on the trailer.
1. The forerunner things look out of place. While they're good for scenery, they look kinda out of place.
2. The brutes... my god they're hideous. Get rid of them. Create your own class of Covenant. This is still Custom Mapping Team right? Not Make Everything Pretty And Shiny Remake Team?
3. Shield recharges a little late. Set the recharge to be about 0.1-0.3 of a second faster.
4. The brutes are hideous... did I say that already?
5. This looks great, compared to the original BSP and video released. :D
6. But, what happened to the pelican drop?

Edited by Higuy on Jul 16, 2013 at 03:17 PM I can't speak for this video, but the CE3 footage was all on Legendary, and that encounter is meant to introduce to the player one of the two long range weapons on anything lower on Legendary, or both on Legendary, as well as the Skirmishers who use the wide open area and the cover to their advantages. Everything for SPV3 is tested and tuned for Legendary, unlike most projects which are tuned for a normal difficulty. This is why we felt it was important for there to be a UI to allow our players that enabled access to difficulty selection. 6. But, what happened to the pelican drop? It's important to remember what constructive criticism is and what is not. I will explain. 1. Why do you feel they look out of place, what could be done to make them feel more natural looking? 2. What do you find unappealing about them? How can you tell us to get rid of them when we have spent many hours crafting them into an enemy that fits in our ideal version of the Covenant. Likewise, we are the CUSTOM mapping team because when we made that name, it was to signify a shift in our focus from ripping content, to CUSTOM created content. You are probably to young to remember, but there was once a time there was 0 interest in anyone creating content from scratch. One could say that hasn't really changed, and you're project is proof of that too, as it seems to rely solely on ripped and CMT content (Unless you have made something from scratch, and just have't shown it yet). 3. The Shield is set to stock values, which is intentional and something we don't feel needs changing. This statement is more of your personal opinion, and you are throwing really insignificant and arbitrary numbers, without any reasoning or details on why it would be a good idea. 4. This is just an insult, if this is what you consider proper feedback, then I'm sure people will have a field day providing "proper feedback" given the projects you've shown. 5. Thank You. 6. Fair enough, Masterz, but why show it on Legendary...? You'd think most people would probably be playing on normal, at least for their first time around. A bit silly if you ask me, as it isn't really very representative of a more ideal and casual play through that most people will take.
Also, at your #2 reply: I think what Storm was getting to is that, even though you are called "custom mapping team", you guys rarely create actual custom stuff... it's all based off of pre existing created by 343i and Bungie. You guys have a lot of great team members that are able to produce beautiful content, why not design you're own weapons and other gameplay elements that haven't been seen before, or at the very least, been able to play with before? Just because they aren't already in the Halo franchise somewhere doesn't mean you guys can't make it fit.

I show everything on Legendary because that is considered the "real difficulty" for Halo 1. It also shows off the AI and the usefulness and purposes of each weapon better than a regular difficulty, as well as the complexity of combat.
We've got some new stuff we want to show in the future, but that criticism has been noted and addressed. We've got a lot of new takes on old ideas, some of which you saw at CE3 with the Focus and Particle Carbines. You'll see a lot more of it once we get to the flood, but right now we feel we have enough new things to H1 for the first 5 missions of the game.

It's important to remember what constructive criticism is and what is not. I will explain.
1. Why do you feel they look out of place, what could be done to make them feel more natural looking?
They seem to be too large and obtrusive. In my opinion, they shouldn't really be there.
I suggested to get rid of them. Brutes have always been the ugliest things in Halo. I've never liked them. They better not be bullet sponges still. And my project doesn't rely on anything CMT except for the HUD, which will soon be replaced. I've modeled the entire BSP from ground up, using no existing assets other than the a30 tunnels.
3. The Shield is set to stock values, which is intentional and something we don't feel needs changing. This statement is more of your personal opinion, and you are throwing really insignificant and arbitrary numbers, without any reasoning or details on why it would be a good idea.
I'm talking about with the weapons and how fast the AI fire. The AI have a fast firing rate, even for Legendary. Decreasing the recharge time will help balance out the tagset. If you're designing this directly for Legendary, and not for normal, then it'll be too easy on Normal. This is the same mistake TM made when designing Lumoria for Normal, it was too difficult on Hard.
4. This is just an insult, if this is what you consider proper feedback, then I'm sure people will have a field day providing "proper feedback" given the projects you've shown.
I'll give CMT credit that they made the brutes look nice, for however ugly they are. Brutes have always been ugly; a useless addition to Halo. Personally, I would have rathered CMT making a new class of Covenant soldier, a cousin of the Elite. It's like a bulkier, stronger, but less accurate and dumber version of an elite. And towards the snide remark to my project, just remember that this has been a complete one man effort, with no outside help aside from criticism.
5. Thank You.
6. We have yet to put in our custom Recorded Animations, but those will eventually be added near the end of the process.
Great work! :D Oh, and with the flood, would you be able to add in a pure form that is able to take control of a sentinel? This would be a nice new take on fresh gameplay. I don't think the Flood would be able to assimilate a purely mechanical target, as opposed to an organic one, because there is no central nervous system for the parasite to tap into. This is why Sentinels are used to fight the Flood. I'd be interested in seeing new Flood forms, though (Such as a CMT-take on one of the Pure Forms or a Flood Juggernaut).

There are flying Flood forms in Halo Wars, though, if an aerial form is needed. well, ticks can't operate advanced alien and human weaponry or perform strategic attacks, so I wouldn't say it's anywhere close. In addition, sentinels are not even close refrigerators, they are artificially intelligent machines. And a machine such as a sentinel can be hacked or overwritten, we saw an example of this in halo 4 with promethians. Plus who says the flood would do it for sustenance? They would likely do it for combat advantage, due to the fact they have a higher level intelligence then that of a tick. Let's be honest, that was a terrible analogy. And isn't part of the point of this campaign to show us things we haven't seen before, especially in the halo 1 campaign?

If you made the brutes react faster, or hit stronger than the elites, it might make them a much more ferocious enemy than the bullet sponges that storm previously remarked on. I understand that their exclusive usage of weapons such as the brute shot and Spiker is a big advantage over Elites (who are more focused towards Carbines and Plasma Rifles), but one of the bigger issues with brutes is that often times, they're way too slow, so these weapons barely make a difference in some situations.
Perhaps if you were to make brutes move/react faster to the player, or give them a new custom weapon (Maybe something that gives them long-range firepower rather than the close-range restrictions of the aforementioned weaponry), they would be far more formidable in common combat.
Also, it wouldn't hurt to give them a small visual touch-up either

Masterz,
You were saying that in the H2SPP project in CE3 that one big obstacle that you were trying to overcome is AI pathing on moving gondolas.
What if, when you get on the first gondola you do a BSP change, and then EVERYTHING ELSE in the stage moves instead of your gondola.
Whenever you want to have the next gondola appear, have a script to watch for enemies that you've killed. Once all the enemies have been killed in that zone have a BSP switch so that now the player is on a moving gondola, approaching an oncoming gondola filled with new dudes. The oncoming gondola would just be standing still, but since you're moving towards it in an infinitely huge lake, it would appear as though it's moving as well.
I don't have any idea how you'd pull off the scarab battle though. Good luck man haha.
Also, @Everyone else, Hi. I'm Llama Juice. I'm another one of the artists on TSC: E. I'm responsible for the organic environment modeling in the first video and this beach encounter video.
