by using a shortcut method, I made the helmet see-through and the face visible with minimal changes to the textures and models :D once I get back to my work computer sometime next week or so, I'll post the changed textures/models since demonstration and example are better teachers than a wall of text.(unless you want a wall of text)


So you got any more renders? :) And also i know you already did a wall of text, but i want to see a demonstration too. :) I like visuals.

also, modeling a custom AR. don't point out the handle; I know it's ugly. top AR is from halo 3.

Why do people use cubemaps that look like environments?

Not really sure why,since they look out place if the objects themselves are not in those places.

I assume that the point is to put them on objects in those levels :P visors especially.

Halo's cubemaps are blurry for a reason.
If you put a cubemap on a visor that simulates realtime reflection, and you step inside a base, its going to look rather silly.
Mostly the cubemaps are designed to simulate how the actual object would reflect things, and are not really about the surrounding environment.
Nice cubes though.

Imagine what it would do if you put two visors next to each other. Yo dawg, I herd u like reflections, so I put yo reflection in yo reflection in yo reflection in yo reflection... Yeah.
I suppose if the cubemap was made to not reflect other cubemaps, you could avoid that, but that's not as much fun.

they're more for scenery objects, like the water, the ladders, the structures, or (with a ton of tweaking to make it look good) the ground and rocks themselves. if it is preferable, I will post a blurred version of any future cubemap work.

Animations are not done ImBrokeRU, it's done by ODX. The bad shaders made me cry and so is the melee. Why is the scope blue-sh.
Sorry about the melee, that one wasn't even supposed to be part of the set.
Heck, in my opinion everything but the reload shouldn't have been in the set.

You are correct, for static objects it is a good idea to place the center of the panorama in the place that the object is to be.
Please dont blur your images, i was just passing on info, i like big clear images.

To whoever said something about infinite mirror reflections: The cubemaps are not mirrors, they are faked reflections. What you are talking about is mirror or dynamic mirror surfaces/materials.

Looks like crud without OS.

Painting the detail bitmaps into the diffuse might be a good idea... Use a set amount of repeats and mirror that in the detailmap scale, then the detail maps will have simulated spec :o :) :D :(

So yeah, I really don't think I'm ever really going to finish the Halo Reach HUD for a while since I have no energy to really complete it, especially with Halo 4 out now, and I have been working on the CMT HUD lately.

So I'm just gonna give what I have, not much, but it has all the base stuff like vitals/radar, aa, and grenades.

I'll add new links if by a miracle I decide to actually continue/finish this HUD, but for right the time being its not even on my to do list. Any way have fun and don't forget to give me the creds if you use it.

Also just drag and drop the "huds" folder into your main tag folder unless you want to redirect everything...

Dano made that texture along with a plenty of other nice looking ones way back in 2007 or 2008 like ODX pointed out. Like ODX said if you've been here long enough you tend to see people from time to time using older assets that clearly others made.

No. He is not. He's Australian. People can sometimes be mistakenly, or intentionally, told to be the creator of something when it's really somebody else's work. (I experienced it in the past in the HaloPC modding community before it died and EVERYONE thought this popular item was made by someone else rather than me)

Mmm is dano still around?

Yeah he still is. He keeps a low profile though. Last I know is he was helping with some textures and assets for SPV3.
