Wasn't sure where else to post this! Just trying out some different things really, so today I redid the flame thrower's effects - however, as described in the video info, didn't like one of the bitmaps I'm using, so going to need to change that one. I'm also having difficulty getting the particle_system tag to animate the particles - it only seems to pick one from the set, or one more than the others. Either way, really happy with the burn effect, and the third person view is looking a little better. Might actually finish something, for once. http://www.xfire.com/video/4a81a3/Any thoughts? More of a sort of gas flamethrower than a liquid one. I also realised just now I am cutting off the tip of the flame in the vid - sorry about that. Edit: While I remember to say, the big flame from the weapon uses slightly less particles than the original effect, and they remain on screen for less time. It was kinda... floofy...? I'm in half a mind to reduce the range and make it more of a sword/power weapon, but I fear balancing may be less than exciting. It's a bit more like a specialist shotgun at the moment, so I guess I'll keep it like that. I have two maps in mind to make, this will only really work on one of them...!

I've been looking at it for so long I had genuinely forgotten what a real fire looks like. I'm using things like propane and methane burners for colour references so I don't want to go toooo far, but yeah needs a bit more variety, now that you mention it. Thanks.

Since I got my 3DS working I can do tons of stuff. Thanks to spartan_279 for initially showing me the process of exporting (hmyoko and Slappythepirate helped afterward). I did this myself though, not too hard. Changes are: Added a new shader for the line under the screen, a new shader for stock and scope casing, and added a light marker for the glowing screen, and added the right detail maps in the same spots used in halo 3. I may release this if enough people want it, but I don't see much of a point since the sniper's already released. I also fixed up the Halo 3 SMG. I noticed that no one had ever applied the right detail map(s) to the back of the SMG, so I went ahead and did it myself (by making it a separate shader ID). Bottom pic is for comparison (on the detail maps on the back). shaders on sniper or SMG are not final. Edited by jesse on Jul 18, 2011 at 01:49 AM

Jesse - those shaders are looking much improved on the others I have seen. Sniper is particularly cool, but is it just me or is the glow flare a little too far to the upper right? Update on the fire - fixed that horrible bitmap I was using as the inner core, added smoke, tried to make it less yellow and bland. The smg is definately an improvement. Could use a few touch ups, but it's getting there.
Also, I hope Slappy fixes how the pelican is position on the map... Snow isn't supposed to be there, for one thing, and one of the engines on the back is supposed to be on the ground.
