WIP Jackal Shield Shaders :)

The only thing I don't like is it seems a little too... make the shield a little bit more clear, not having that scratched effect everywhere, and I tbhink ti'd be good. Like in the middle, its got that, but on the outer edges its clearer. That'd be cool.

Also, in the middle, add a little white light that emanates from the actual gauntlet. Like its strogner near the middle, and weaker on the outside.

I like the red, but the rest look to like crackly or w/e

Eww, sorry hiralis, but those look gross, invest in some higher res bitmaps, or atleast do something to clear up all that pixelation.

A few edits, I left the red one as is, and modified the orange to make it more dynamic, and removed the offsets from the purple, green and blue shields. Any suggestions for adding lights to them?

Better. Although make the white a bit mroe solid; right now it just looks like a fogged up stained glass window.

It's impossible to try harder than your best. That would make the 'I can't think of a name for it xD' that's better than your best your 'best.

But yeah, people are too hard on Hiralis. I know you don't really notice if you give biased opinions, but I've noticed you do give some quite biased opinions. For example, if there's a big team like CMT or TM, you expect more from them than you expect from everyone else, which is a 'biased' opinion. And if you hate someone or have had experience with commenting on their work in the past, you take that too much into account when giving your opinion on their current work.

And no, I'm not going to give proof. Why? I have a life and I know you know exactly what kind of events I'm discussing here. ;)

fyi, my criticism is never biased. Only the wording may be, as to how i'm feeling at the time and how the person responds.

If I say it's crap, that's not because i dont like what is being modelled (although I may not) but rather because, well,it's crap.

Yeah but I think it looks good. It would though look cool of you textured it so that there was metal around the circumfrance of the shield kinda like a frame. Any how looks good.

Or white energy around the shield as a frame. It looks incoherent, like it should fall apart.

That actually looks really nice in my opinion. Now make a scrolling texture for it :D

to me, at a close up, it looks like transparent colored leather.
Make it more transparent, like the pictures i got in the email for this thread.



That blue looked pretty good, imo.

I think they look purty, my only complaint is it still looks grainy like someone said "Hey! Lets put a Static option into our shield gauntlet!

They look like they have glitter on it..

Those look really awesome.
Now you just need an animated pulse, and a distortion.
Then a light emitting from it too.

Are you using OS? Or are you using normal maps in this case.

Alright, I was presuming so because you were using normal maps on the shields, tbh, you should try some patterns or something, like a hexagon pattern, or something on the shields, just for grins.
