^^It'd be really cool to have that in-game. Please do consider making a low poly version :)

Oh nice release it please. Just out of curiosity, how exactly do you make a low poly model from a hi-poly one? Do you do some sort of "downscaling" to the original one or do you make it from scratch?

Delete turbo-smooth from everything then remove un-needed detail. I will release when I find the time to modify afew parts to make a better bake, I would unwrap it quickly now but I need to chamfer afew edges so it bakes correctly.

generally the low poly model is like... still a WIP and the high poly model is with all the details and everything done.. EDIT: i'd really like the high poly version of that shotgun for my demo :D and Quote: --- Original message by: anonymous_2009 Smoothing two faces next to each other tells the rendering engine that the normals should be averaged out using the two angles from the faces.
This means that there is also no seam between these two faces and makes an object look round instead loads of triangles. Objects are also split-up in the game engine based on the smoothing groups, that is why most game models all have ONE smoothing group but textures and normal maps hide this. ... every face in a model has a "normal" which is the angle perpendicular to the plane in 3 space that the face lies on. normals are used primarily to calculate lighting on faces which is why when you "flip" the normals in 3ds max, the angle is inversed and lighting is calculated from the other side. when you assign two faces the same smooth group, lighting will be calculated the same for all the angle between the face's normals. 3ds max i believe uses the Euclidian smoothing method (might be wrong i cant remember) to smooth the lighting on the faces so that they APPEAR to be seamless. Screenshot? Edited by anonymous_2009 on Dec 5, 2010 at 08:00 AM ^This. To comment on your PR, it looks good, or at least considerable from what we've seen. And also, this. Crit for the new model pl0x? Image was late. Edited by PX173 on Dec 5, 2010 at 09:08 AM My issues are similar to what someone else has already outlined, which is the depth of the overall weapon, sometimes you can't help as that's they way the weapon is designed. But if you can compromise try and give it more depth so when you look down the side of the weapon it looks interesting and appealing and not just flat. here are some examples, using one of my own models because its a good example not trying to show off as people will see it that way. It is also rather boxy, you got a reference image of the weapon? Actually I made it up myself, though it should work in real life without making noticeable modifications. No sketches, straight on the canvas. Yeah I know it's improper work etiquette. I'll try to add depth, also, nice model.

I remember someone saying they were working on it and they showed work, but I don't remember if it was ever finished or released.

Modern pistols are short-barrel. Especially halo's pistols. Other than that, there are smoothing problems... and that it's not very detailed at all. I personally don't like 5- or 15-min models.

Have you ever seen an M1911? Or the Glock 17-20's? They have longer barrels. And I know the smoothing isn't very good.
Also I will be detailing it. Later.

Guess what? The M1911 was made in designed and made and issued in 1911. It said that on the Wiki page. Also I did think before I typed and I do know about the 1911 because I have asked several people who know about it and have found out various things about it. So Yes I know what I am talking about.

The colt pistol was actually developed prior to 1911, and had been in production since the late 1800's. It was officially named the M1911 in the year 1911 when it was officially adopted by the United States Army as the new standard issue side arm....in 1911. The 1911's design began in the late 1800's as an attempt to create a self loading pistol. It went through a series of trials and tests in the years leading up to 1911 to prove it could be the new standard issue side arm. tl;dr 1911 originated before 1911. 1911 does not equal World War 2 or one for that matter.
Also did you even try when you made that? Gather some references and give it another go
