These are about 2 month old origins retouched by me (mostly the fingers). This launcher is ironically the same shotgun grenade launcher from Black Ops. The launcher is also terribly out of proportion, the grip is unusable because it's so badly misshapen.

I just found out about this post via a quick Google search and I figured I'd reply to it. First of all, sorry for replying to an old post, in case that bothers anyone on this board. Second, I'd like to note that the weapon isn't out of proportion at all, it's modeled in the correct dimensions to it's real world counterpart. For your first model, it is very sexy. From a standard of long-time modellers, it has a strange handle, rough edges and lacks detail.

or you can just hit 7 to show it BTW, VERY cool dude! I am loving it. if you want some tips on higher poly modeling search Grant Warwick tutorials in google. That guy made me understand so fast. And the models HE makes. OMFG they are insanity! example being...

Hi Geared, You've got some decent models, yeah, now you just need to learn to unwrap them and texture them. besides that I can't really say anything seeing as I don't know the triangle count and the like. I think it only needs as much as it needs to look good. It's good that you're thrifty from the start, most people go overboard to begin with and then have to try and optimize it. Which way is better? Depends on whether it's easier to optimize or make hi-poly, and your computer's capability.

well, he can get it down to that if he makes lower poly versions. Though, most of his stuff is more... semi low poly. 6000 isn't really high poly at all compared to most high poly weapons.

Personally, I found it hard to get the hands around the rear grip properly, other than that the model was nice. I modified the textures (albeit crappily) to show your name and all the others that helped with it (atleast by what FPSBanana said) on the side to replace the skull, and I modified the sight of the weapon slightly. I am getting it in game and touching up my animations for it, along with creating effects and projectiles for it. I suppose it won't be too much trouble to also compile it into CS:S. It's all about the triangles. 2nd. If it was 6000 triangles, then it would be decent for a 'current-gen' weapon, tho for older games like Halo 1, 6k might be a little much. Eitherway, for newer games, say CoD or BF, 6k isn't a problem. Newer game engines can render up to 2 million triangles at a time on screen. With that in mind, optimizing your work is still a good idea tho. The more you can have on screen = awesomesauce. Any more questions? Fire away or send me an e-mail.
