I am tentatively recruiting some people that have capabilities with modding.

Specifically, you don't have to be able to mod CE, you'd just need to be able to do the things that may come up (rigging, modeling, texture edits and the like)

This is for the urban map project on my thread, though the reason I make a new recruitment thread is because I don't really want to clutter up my thread with this yet since it might not pan out. (The recruitment, not the map, sillies)

Anyway, I will lay it out simply and directly:

- We need a rigger. Yes, someone who can rig well
We can rig bipeds decently enough for concept tests, but we are currently not capable of rigging a spartan biped, for example.


- We might need someone who can animate fairly decently.
We will use alternative tags\tagsets if we cannot find an animator, however, if we do manage to acquire someone, we still won't load you with 15 weapons to animate, it'd just be for a few weapons, some edits here and there.


I think that is probably it. Of course, I don't want to leave you with too many questions so I will answer some that you might have.


Q: "Who are 'we'?"
A: Right now, Kirby and I are working on our urban map alone, but we are attempting to branch out to other content creators who would share the same passion we have for the map we are striving to create.

Q: "If we will be a group, what name shall we take?"
A: Right now we are not a group yet, it is literally just me and Kirby working on the map of our dreams. I may reclaim the ASP acronym because it is simple, and we feel that we can really bring out the best in all of our members.

Q: "But Kirby never finishes anything!"
A: True, but not this time. His concepts will become a full-fledged reality (as permitted by CE and it's ever-expanding limits)

Q: "Well, what IS the project you are working on?"
A: It is an urban-themed map that will be a cross between firefight, survivor modes, and Nazi Zombies type scenarios. Something newish

The reason it's just the two of us right now is because we are dedicated to this project (time and other projects permitting ahem, CMT) We know what we want and so far we both work really well together.

Q: "What do we get in return if we join?"
A: Since when has anyone ever really gotten anything in return? :P

However, as a contributing member you will of course receive regular updates and betas so that we may all understand what needs to be done and work together. The way I see it, as long as you are a contributing member you are entitled to be in-the-know. Your input will be considered. Serious applicants only please. We'd prefer not to have someone claim to want to help us, then just disappear or neglect any assigned duties. We understand that you all may have other projects to work for and that's totally fine, we get it, but taking six months to animate a weapon might be a bit excessive for example.

What weapon set do you have in mind for your urban map? Will it be halo themed or would the tags reflect the down town civic theme you have planned?

Seeing as I just got out of school for 2 weeks straight, I'm going to be doing a lot of animating. I still need to catch up on a lot of stuff, but I'd be happy to help. PM me with some details if you're interested.

Right now the tagset is undecided but I could use my existing H2 tagset or CMTs. I'd prefer to shoot for a modern style tagset because it'd fit with the map theme, but that would only happen if we recruit a decent animator. Ultimately, it really depends on what we are ultimately capable of creating as a team. (we may modify existing weapons to ease the load)

I can animate weapons myself, but that's a last resort because mine aren't all that great (but they're not too bad either) and I'd rather focus on the BSP.

If we were to recruit a modeler, he\she may be asked to model some of the simpler buildings that will be rendered in the distance. There are quite a few of those and would take some time to complete them all by myself. I am assuming you could also unwrap to existing textures, but I could do that part if necessary. I handle creation of the main player-area buildings because those need a significant amount of detail that I doubt anyone else would want to do anyway.


Also, to avoid confusion I will simply lay out what we are asking for:

1. A first-person animator (doesn't necessarily have to be the best, third person would be cool too)
2. A rigger (first person arms, maybe a biped)
3. Modeler (this one isn't as needed, but it'd significantly decrease the project creation time)

I'm a half-decent (I like to think) fp animator, and I'm not horrid with rigging.

Could you show me some recent examples?

I can't access the HDD with my recent (though oldish) stuff so I'll whip something up by Monday. Any particular weapon you want to see me try?

I have recruited two animators, I think we're covered in that area.

What we could use is someone who can rig FP arms or maybe bipeds.

If we could get a weapon modeler that'd be cool too, but as a consequence we'd need a texturer (we have an unwrapper for that kind of thing)

Now that I think about it better, I may have been quick to judge. I didn't even ask to see your capacity, and for that I apologize. Can you upload an example of what you can do? Perhaps we could use you as a backup, or if you do demonstrate the capacity, we can create a large library of weapons that the public can eventually use.
