I'm sure a ton of you have run into this error before (and so have I back when I had windows 8 on my computer when it was new).

How do we fix this? It doesn't really let me work on stuff because the weird little pseudo-windows are getting in the way of everything in the display, not just 3ds (until I close it).

I only made a new thread because I expect it to wither away fairly quickly.

What GPU are you using and what driver version are you using? I had this problem before on Windows 8.1 in 3DS Max 8 but was fixed somehow in a driver update (NVIDIA)

Macbook Pro 2015, 13 inch 128GB SSD

Graphics: Integrated Intel Iris 6100
Storage: 128 GB SSD
cpu: Intel i5

Also, it seems that windows tends to lock up pretty hard for 5 seconds when I activate the Caps Lock key (but not when I de-activate it).

I do have the typical Intel graphics settings program installed, but I haven't checked if there might be a newer version.

I believe Apple makes special drivers for Windows 8. I'd make sure you are using those special drivers, and not the ones via Windows Update.

I'm using the drivers that Boot Camp installed, which I am assuming are the latest ones since they were automatically downloaded.

Anyway, I guess I'd prefer to install Windows 10 because it worked pretty well for me on this machine before, though I never really tested any programs due to lack of space (had 2 GB free after install).

Does anyone know how one such as I can update to W10?...

Acquiring a key would be... difficult. ;-)

properties/compatability/settings
Disable disable visual themes, disable desktop composition and disable display scaling on high dpi settings (try this one first).

The display scaling setting certainly made a change, but replaced it with different problems. The the right-click menu no longer leaves a ghost, but now the display won't render anything unless I'm moving something within the port.

And all the menu items are scaled oddly.

I HAVE FIXED THE PROBLEMS, ALL OF THEM!

I simply installed Windows 10. Phuck Windows 8.1 man.

Not that anyone will care but I encountered the same problem a year and half ago.

I just upgraded to max 16. Life goes on.
