Hi guys, I'm making a new firefight map with a new bsp. I wanted to make a cubemap for the metal parts of the level to simulate reflection; as such, it should contain the stuff present in the level (the surrounding desert, the moon in the sky and so on). Problem is: I don't know how to do it. Should I draw it by hand from scratch? Or is there a more clever way to directly render it? (maybe directly from Sapien?

Look in: data\levels\b30\bitmaps\cube map forerunner interiors.tif That's a bitmap that shows you how a cubemap is done for Halo CE.

It shows the proper setup for compiling the cube. There are multiple ways to do it, both the cross method and the all horizontal method.

Learn what real love is about; it has nothing to do with fornication, but is much more valuable. I'm already in a relationship and you get less output then what you put in......

I never try it, you put the models in unity ( if you have it,) theres an option for that or maybe compile the map, set perspective to 90 degrees and take screeshots in games

Thing about cubemaps is that unless they are static objects, a cubemap of its surroundings will look bad when the object moves. That is why halo ce objects that move have a cubemap that looks like the object and not its surroundings. Patrickssj made a app called something like solstice360 or similar. You can use this app to make cubemaps ingame. Those cubes could be used on static objects.or import bsp to max and create cubes the way my other video shows. Those cubes are not the type that halo ce supports. This is the correct format. https://youtu.be/lljljRsF8oQ You can cut them and make them the correct format using that method. Just make sure you have your image the correct aspect and use the grid. Edited by Maniac1000 on Jul 3, 2015 at 09:15 PM
