It takes 3-4 days for your computers to render a DLM, right?

Depending on BSP complexity, but that sounds about right. That time does not include fixing any errors and needing to re-render though. There's four lightmaps to render. Standard, direction 1, 2, and 3, which we can parallelize the workload.

Render Farms are pretty swift.

It will be only a matter of time. But in the meanwhile the wait continues.

Yes that is completely what I meant.

It's not even that I don't like Planet Explorers, it's that with so much saturation of identical products it seems like a waste of time to focus on any one of them. Time that could be spent on ficus :o

So, are you guys going to have high bloom by default, or will we have to use Open Sauce settings or Sweet FX to do that?

Is the alternating shots using the method I created ? :D

i do not know what your method is; the evolved vehicles use a method that was developed during spv1, but for some reason it didn't work very well when i tried it back then. (this is actually why the ghost cannon from that era stops firing from one gun when it is damaged; i had a one-marker setup for alternating fire and didn't bother re-adding the second marker to ~damaged when the alternating fire didn't work).

the primary trigger marker is attached to a node. the node animates with an overlay controlled by the ammunition loaded into a secret magazine. (it is the secondary magazine so the player can't try to reload it and mess things up). the main gun uses that magazine so that each shot alternates the location of the marker. the magazine instantly reloads so that the firing doesn't get interrupted. the magazine and overlay animation have one frame / round per barrel that the shots alternate from.

when i tried it like 8 years ago for spv1, the magazine kept stalling the cannon's fire when it reloaded, and so the gun was weird and stuttery every few shots. we don't have that issue now though. maybe 2006-era teh lag just stupidly forgot to set the reload time to 0?

Well on my first attempt I had an overlay animation running constantly which allowed me to use multiples of 3 for the firing rates, as the animation is cut at 30 FPS, then recently I implemented something with the magazines and had to invert the function for a reason I forgot, on the bigass falcon and reach rocket hog, and it never fails so far

By default, the bloom will be present but fairly subdued; the christmas video uses these settings. If you want more, we've added an option in the pause menu that cranks it up much higher

Wondering, if one were to change UVs of a BSP and thus not change the render geometry in any way. Will the lightmap BSP stay the same?

There is a chance that lightmap UVs for the older version would be compatible with the new one, however the game is not very consistent about how it splits up geometry for lightmaps so I think it's more likely that the lightmap BSP would change.

I'm not sure how I would go about measuring "better than Halo 3". It is a powerful system and Firescythe has a lot to be proud of but it's still Halo 1.
