Its not realy saved. You wil need gameranger in order to view the servers. The ingame server list wont be affected by this and wil not work. Edited by joe55 on May 4, 2014 at 11:07 AM

I really don't think gameranger is that bad but I'm getting sick of publications referring to the program's announcement of supporting a game it already has for years like it's the end-all solution to the issue. Just spreading misinformation and derailing whatever momentum the movement to bring Halo to Steam might've had.
This whole thing really annoys me. From a marketing perspective, Halo PC titles are reaching their twilight years - with the pending withdrawal of gamespy now would be their last chance to license it to Valve and make a quick buck on some old games. Yet for some reason they just don't want to profit off of something that wouldn't cost them anything save the 'brand integrity' as a console title that was soundly broken by Spartan Assault.
I guess M$ just doesn't want to make $ these days. Suddenly W8 makes sense.

Gameranger doesn't support dedicated servers - only servers that are self-hosted with the Gameranger app.
Halo PC/CE is not saved.

Servers can still be created and joined. When a server is made an IP is made. So lets say CE3 server for example has an ip of 123.256.89:2302. That ip is now made and official. Yes we would have to join via direct IP, but if we use applications such as xfire and save all of our favorite servers, and use HAC also it keeps servers bookmarked. You can still join servers via that way.
All gamespy was/is an easy way to join It's just a massive pool showing all the servers that are running. Gamespy is skipping you from clicking on direct IP and doing that work for you.
So in other words go into CE now and find all your favorites, add them to xfire and add them to HAC.
