i m wanting to add some details into my map but i do not want to mess up my nice topology, so i was wondering could i compile the bsp with floating geometry if said geometry was sealed? if so can i even have intersecting meshes like that or will it throw out all kinds of phantom bsp issues... basically i am trying to add the door frames separately but i would rather not have to have them as scenery unless absolutely necessary Edited by killzone64 on Oct 15, 2013 at 09:44 AMEdited by killzone64 on Oct 15, 2013 at 09:47 AM

Not sure about other exporters but yes blitzkrieg can do this (even with intersecting geometry. Link all sealed objects to frame.

ok. im just curious about this though, can the floating bits be part of the same mesh? or do they absolutely have to be separate?

yes it can be part of the same mesh, and this as you would maybe have noticed would mean you don't have this extra item to link to the frame, as it would all be seen as part of one model even though it would be two separate sealed parts of geometry.
like if you shift and drag a polygon from for example your bsp's wall then make the other geometry with that, just make sure that no faces rest on other parts of sealed geometry and it will be fine. Edited by ally on Oct 15, 2013 at 05:24 PM

Like ally said it can be one object but only if it does not intersect. I am pretty sure intersecting sealed parts must be separate objects.
