Which does Halomaps prefer? And what version of each? And why?
Reply and say whether you prefer 3ds max or gmax and why!

max 8 is pretty much the best as far as compatibility goes. Gmax has less compatible scripts to run and they usually require an extra step. Max 8 can run Blitz, Bluestreak, the gbxmodel importer, ghost's animation importer, and pretty much every other max script on this site. You can import and export models, animations, collision geometry and bsps with max 8.
Anything after 8 can't handle blitzkrieg, which I still find to be the most reliable way of exporting BSPs. Bluestreak would sometimes flip random faces in my model inside out.
But you can also use bluestreak (or the updated versions by bobbysoon iirc) which can handle regions. This is like the one thing blitz can't do.
