Hello everyone! I'm really unknown so far in the Halo community but that, along with the fact that the Halo CE community is fading, is something I'd like to change. One major thing I wanted to do was start a roleplaying server, and another server for regular gametypes (CTF, TDM, etc.) And make videos showing them off. I'd also like to try and make some machinimas, seeing as how Halo CE (Custom Edition) has a way better modding community for maps, character models, weapons, and a ton more stuff. (If anybody would/could host these servers, please, let me know. I don't know how I could repay you if you can, but we could try and make it work...or something.) Again, if you can host a server and/or would like to join in a roleplay(by planning/acting in it), message me. I'll constantly check my messages when I can, and I'm already getting ideas for a few on different maps. I hope anyone who reads this could spread the message, and we can slowly get Halo CE popular once more.

Yeah, I know the modding community is good, but I did mean the player count. (More specifically, the Roleplayer-count). I should have been more specific: I want to bring more of the RP-player-community back.

The Shock Response clan tried to bring RPing back but hasn't succeeded very well so far as far as I know.(efforts had spiked massively a few months ago and then dropped straight back down by the time I left about a month ago)
There have been a lot of efforts to bring the RPing community back though and none have been very successful for very long. There are already a fair few RP dedis out there that are moderated by at least one or two people but they generally don't get an abundance of players regardless. I actually hosted a dedi for a while(for SR) and though there was the occassional spike in activity once in a while, mostly from SR's members, it was mostly empty most of the time.

Quote: --- Original message by: rangerDanger Actually the Halo CE community is as good as ever. Well at least the modder community... The player count on the game is slightly dwindling. Couldn't be farther from the truth. Game ripping is one of the key things that killed ce, I think. I have no problem with ripping from other games, but when people are making a really cool halo 2 map and halo 3 comes out and just drop the project for a halo 3 map, then halo reach comes out and the halo 3 map is dropped, and then halo 4 comes out and, despite that it is a terrible game and isn't even really a halo game, they drop the reach map and make a halo 4 map, all they're really doing is wasting time, and none of the maps would ever be released. People working on custom content are so far in the minority that no one cares about them. There's also the Mexicans who are trying to remake reach/4 maps because they can't pirate Halo 4 or Halo Reach but they can pirate Halo CE. These people pretty much rule the "community" as of today. There's also the Australians who are putting halo 4 and halo reach tags they took from someone else and horrible creations and reskins they made into a halo 1 campaign map ruining the gameplay and immersion. And people who see this are so desperate for a good map that it is passed as a "good custom map" The only thing that can save halo ce modding is a new game with a better editor or a huge influx of people with good skills or the desire to learn. (which would never happen) RIP halo ce community. RIP halo in general.

Guys, (and gals, if there was one, I didn't see sorry.), WE here could easily start to bring the community back in! I'm already trying to learn to make maps, tags, and skins and stuff like that, in addition to my script-writings for machinimas. Hell, we get one server up and we can make videos on there, showing off whatever it is we do, or maybe starting off with map reviews. Walkthroughs/Let's Plays on singleplayer could help (not at much, but still,). I have literally made it my mission now to get Halo CE and the community back on their metaphorical feet.
And once I make something my mission, I will never give up.

I can name a ton of newer games that dont reach that number. I doubt halo wil die any time soon.

Personally, before I even touched singleplayer mapping, I made countless MP maps, some which were rated high (and still are!) - however I learned over time that it can be much more fulfilling creating SP maps as it doesn't rely on other people to play on them... they can entertain anyone at any time whenever they want, including the maps author. I realized after plenty of map making that the maps, even the great ones like Requiem, the original Grove, WTC3, etc, simply do not get played enough by casual players on casual servers. OFC there is people like Realworld who play on some of these maps quite often, but its not like you seem them all the time getting played. More often then not we have the "nooby" maps getting played - Exctiction, Coldsnap, Hugeass - I'm not saying their bad, they can be plenty of fun... and thats what custom edition is about. but compared to the average dude creating MP maps, it will tend to after a while not feel like it is worth doing, and SP can fill that roll of self fulfillment pretty easily.

Couldnt agree more. We could make hundreds of great mp maps. But in the end only a few people would play them, because most are playing oversized maps like hugeass and extinction. A shame though, cause there are so many great maps out there that are way better then overrated(my opinion) hugeass and coldsnap.

It's funny because the point you made is quite the opposite of the point he made. I would advise you to reread his message, but I doubt it would help in any way. I would blame the public educational system, but I suppose it's not their fault that you lack in reading comprehension. Thanks, your 2 cent's is very much appreciated. He's not dumb and you shouldn't be bashing him; he has a pretty good point. -snipparoo wall of text- -snipparootoo- ACTUALLY, Single-Player mapping has so much potential!(Plus OS for even more potential) If anything, MP gets wasted on because people only play the"overrated", non-original, and stock maps. There's pretty much no attention towards alot a new stuff now-a-days. I like to play around and tweak with tags much more then my enjoyment with real mapping, because I know my map will die off eventually. I'm still gonna re-boot that Christmas map I made before, though. I've been wanting to finish that for awhile. I wasn't bashing SP maps. Actually, I quite enjoy them. But MP has a lot of potential too and when you make a map people like and play on it really does feel special. Getting on and seeing a server full of people playing on a map you created and being able to jump in is a lot of fun. I'm not bashing either - they both have plenty of up's and down's and are fun to create and play on. Edited by Higuy on Sep 7, 2013 at 09:36 PM

He has a good point, at least to the extent as to why MP isn't getting as much attention as SP. I don't see whats so hard to understand about that. I wasn't agreeing or disagreeing, I was simply adding onto what he was saying, giving an explanation if you will. SP gets more attention because it doesn't require other players. That does not mean it's wasted or energy channeled in a wrong direction - like I said in my previous post, both have MP and SP map creation have their ups and downs.

Yeah... I agree that the community is losing interest and all... but how do you think I feel? I still work on Halo Xbox conversions and my community is legitimately dead and gone. lol. I only know of a couple people that still do CE>XBOX conversions! And as far as the easiest way to do that you would need Arsenic, which as far as I know only Moses and I know how to use and know the tricks to get around most of its problems.

most of the cool ideas and features us modders create get wasted on singleplayer. i feel like what i said was misunderstood... halo multiplayer consists of a few people in a map killing eachother. you can change the bsp/tags but its still just a deathmatch or race. its objective is simple... singleplayer maps give you the ability to create an entirely new game. every sp map you make can be a different type of game, you create the objective. the problem is that you cant create a new objective for multiplayer.
