I don't purchase consoles, so I have no need to object or defend something I will never get to experience. All Hail Megatron! In all seriousness, we know so little about this it's hard to judge. Yeah he's wearing a cloak, but theres no point of wandering in the desert in dark green armor for hours on end. So whatever.

I know a lot of people love Metroid, but I never really got interested in it. But I am sorry to hear that it also fell victim to a company that thought ruining the main character was a good idea for the franchise.

I want to know why he is wearing the cloak in the first place, his suit has it's own built-in environment and I highly doubt that he is worrying about scratching the paint job.

Perhaps Chief, after the loss of Cortana, goes rogue when the UNSC refuses to help him relocate her, and wears the cloak to try and hide his identification? And maybe where he is seen in this trailer is in the desert rubble in Voi where pieces of the Didacts ship landed. Perhaps Chief is searching for Cortana, which can be justified by the AI chip he has.

Yeah because admit it you had no idea it was halo until you saw the forunner thing and his arm and it got you even more exited why it was halo OR He couldn't be bothered fighting some sort of primitive enemy so he was wearing it so they couldn't identifie him at distance possible because they have a lot of snipers or something

Or, he could just be wearing that cloak for the trailer which might not even be in the game. Like some of the Halo 3 trailers which had no parts in the game what so ever. Edited by P3 on Jun 11, 2013 at 09:39 AM

Or it's not really Halo.
It's clearly Microsoft's Smash Bros' clone. I mean, they are behind both Nintendo and Sony on that.

On the contrary, it re-enforces my decision never to play a Halo game developed by 343i. THIS was an epic trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9z36WDj2PcUwhile this is a lame trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bhMU_FCjFs4I understand that some people enjoyed Halo 4 but lets face the facts: 343i took the most beloved frachise in all of gaming and replaced all the things we knew and loved with lame, lazy, poorly imagined crap. The new theme song might as well be white noise in comparison with the original, MCs new armor looks totally rediculous, MC and Cortana's "relationship" was on the verge of being soap opera material, and the prometheans were just stupid. (anyone want to know my theory for why the prometheans limbs are floating like that instead of being attached in a believable fasion? Because rigging and animating joints is time consuming... stiff floating objects are easy.) Okay... sry about that. I'm done now.... I apologize if any fans of the game felt insulted by that, I just tend to get angry when people ruin things I care about. Ironic, considering when you go onto the wiki page for Halo 1-3, it's defined as a Sci-fi opera. It's supposed to be dramatic. Also, the robe's sole purpose was to shroud him from the viewer, not from the Bird.. Thing. If it truly meant harm to him, Why would chief hold up Cortana's chip to it? He obviously sought it out to repair the chip and to locate Cortana. They could've taken off Master Chief's helmet but if they did, they would've taken away the mysterious element of the game. That's why It's always teased but never happens. It's hinted in Halo 3 that he's lost his hair and again in Halo 4 when his age is emphasized. Would you have recognized a bald, freckle-faced man in a robe when the description for John 117 in the books was a young man with red hair? That's why he still has his helmet. Speaking of that, the helmet is broken. There's fractures within the shielding of the helmet. The shields are probably broken beyond repair now. The helmet also has a visor to block the sun rays out. If the shielding of the helmet is knocked out, it's not too farfetched to say the sun visor was as well. That would be the reasoning behind him wearing the robe over his helmet. Um...the sun visor is just a part of the helmet. As we can see, the visor is still there, therefore it's not broken.
It may be damaged but that's not going to stop it from doing it's job. Edited by Dumb AI on Jun 11, 2013 at 11:30 AM

It's just a damn cutscenes that's probably in no way related to the actual game storyline.
The halo 3 trailer didn't happen in Halo 3 the game. The halo reach scene with Kat running with the nuke didnt happen in reach.
That teaser trailer is obviously just made for the sole purpose of showing off that there IS something being made. It's stupid and illogical for the master chief to hold cortana's chip up when faces with a possible enemy. He's not showing the chip to the construct, it's used as an object to represent something that the trailer is trying to convey (hell if I know or care what it is.)
As to why the chief is wearing a robe, your guesses are as good as mine. Stop trying to make fancy schmancy 'logical' arguments about why he has or needs it.
Besides, didnt the chip get destroyed when the terminal she was out into disintegrated? Whatever.

Bungie ruined the continuity of the game with Halo 3 when they juggle Master Chief's capabilities. In Halo 2, his suit was magnetized to the surface of Cairo Station, making it impossible for him to fall off of it. How come he did not think to do this with Amber Clad in Halo 3? Did it not cross his mind? Don't Spartans make decisions much faster than average humans? Aren't they much more intelligent? Also, If he was so intelligent, would he also be able to understand that there is no gravity in space, which would make the warthog falling out of the ship completely illogical and not to mention that any sudden movement he made would've sent him flying across the room, yet he managed to dig his hand into the interior of the ship rather than propelling himself through the cockpit and out the other end of the ship due to combination of his strength and weight.

Just from a stupid CGI trailer the game already looks bad. After playing Halo 4 its probably safe to assume that this assumption is true.

In Halo 2, you can jump around on the exterior of Cairo Station. You can also fall off the side. Since there is gravity inside the station, this is probably what prevents the Chief from shooting off into space whenever he moves. In any case, he seems to have trouble getting his boots on the ground when In Amber Clad takes off. There is gravity in space, although to what degree depends on your proximity to a celestial body. If the ship is flying forward and the Warthog is not tied down, the Warthog would fly out the back. The gravitational pull of the Ark (which is said to possess the same gravity as Earth) behind them would also help with that. And since there is the inertia of the ship moving forward, plus gravity pulling him from below, that is why he does not fly through the cockpit when he starts crawling up. However, as Halo shakes itself to pieces during its firing sequence and damages the Ark, the portal deactivates as the other half of the Dawn containing Chief and Cortana enter it. This causes them to rip off from the other half of the ship and be sent to an unknown area of space far enough from the Halo's blast, however, since they didn't come out of the other side of the portal, they never made it back to Earth.

Meh, this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8xasY1cb7bc plus Halo 3 trailer. There's also something deeply ungratifying I find about giant mechs. Not sure why, but I guess I can't expect everything to cater to my desires.

I remember designing some forerunner machines back then, and in some official concept art there was this continental size "sentinel" I'm thinking that, that is the 343's version. Man 343 made that trailer look so bad, Master chief wearing clothes outside of his armor, a random encounter with this forerunner object. It doesn't feel like a real trailer, as so with halo's previous trailers. Edited by Wesker on Jun 12, 2013 at 08:34 PM

halo 2 had a trailer of chief walking forward, grabbing gun, sitting, flip the switch, door opens, pan zoom visor shot, fly out, fly towards camera cut zoom HALO.
halo 3 had a trailer with 2 kids sitting outside, explosion light shift pan zoom helmet, view hands, MC puts helmet on grabs gun, bubble shield running running covenant army jump zoom cut HALO.
halo 3 also had a trailer of MC walking forward in a desert until he reaches this giant forerunner thing unfolding out of the ground, pans to his visor showing the reflection, cut zoom HALO.
halo reach had a trailer with noble 6 flying to ship, pan zoom visor showing reflection, inside of ship, pan zoom visor reflection, throw bomb, run, explosion, zoom pan HALO.
and yet hatred is only directed to 343's trailers. selective thinking in a nutshell.

halo 2 gives the audience a get ready to die feeling, shows the interior of the ship, chief's new armor, new weapon, a very nice view of the planet, and showing in game cutscene,(not just cgi), chief talks
halo 3's trailer give us an idea a clueless idea of what game this is, transitions to chief regaining consciousness in the middle of a warzone, shows excitement of maybe being able to see chief's face but he puts on his helmet fps style, introducing bubble shield, chief talks, cgi
odst: best cinematic trailer in my opinion of the halo series
never a big fan of reach but emile of course was the highlight
halo 4 trailer did get me excited...so i dont hate 343 entirely halo 4's trailer lefts off from halo 3's ending , regaining conscious from cyrosleep, introduces new weapon, shows us a very nice view of the contruct , cgi, chief talks
but halo5 come on you are going to give them credit for that kind of trialer?
