Edited by DOOM899 on Jan 31, 2014 at 04:54 AM

I'm not quite sure what you are talking about. Could you be a little more specific? What are you trying to do?

Are you trying to compile multiple sounds into permutations of a single .sound tag?

Also, do you need to know how to set up the bitmap for creating sprites or how to set up the tags or both?

I know what he means.

Basically he made 3 voice sounds but he doesn't know how to include 3 voice sounds in Halo.

I am very busy preparing for exams at the moment. I can try to find some time for a tutorial or two soon, but no promises.

My new laptop is windows 8

Ugh, Windows 8... I feel sorry for you. I would recommend upgrading to Windows 7 ASAP if at all possible.

Windows 7 is an upgrade from Windows 8... not a downgrade... doesn't everyone know that...

But back on topic:

Its been ages since I made any tutorials, I want to get back to it and make a couple soon. I have some exams tomorrow, then another Friday, then I don't have any more till next Thursday. So maybe between Friday and next Thursday I will try to make 1 or 2 tutorials.

I don't know if it's just me, but it seems that you're very quiet in some of your tutorials (I have to turn up the volume to hear what you're saying)

I uploaded a new tutorial!! Check the OP for the link. This one is for modding an existing weapon model and was requested by AscendantJustice.

@Dumb AI: I think the volume on this latest one is a little better. Not quite sure why they generally come out kinda quite, I have my mic volume all the way up. I'll see if there is anything more I can do about it.

For normal everyday tasks yeah, windows is obviously better for gaming and modding.

I can't understand why anyone would ever use OSX for anything.

but back on-topic:
@ASCENDANTJUSTICE: no problem, glad I could help.

I'll try to get around to another tutorial soon, not sure which one yet.

Could I request another tutorial? Tutorial on how to create a custom vehicle with breakable parts.

I'll add it to my list, but I can't promise when I'll have time to get it done.

It's got a much better UI, more reliable, more end user features, and requires less maintenance. Plus it is much better integrated with mobile, whether it be Android or iOS. With my setup I can separate all my windows applications into different virtual desktops alongside OSX apps, and can also use spotlight and finders preview feature to access any file on my windows partition. When dealing with thousands of documents and many people, it's became a valuable feature to just type a filename in OSX, and drag it to whatever windows or mac application I need it to be sent or opened in. I also can do versioning for all my tags and script files with almost no user setup via time machine, in addition to multiple backups.

I use an upper end Haswell Retina Macbook Pro.

It's pricy, but you can often get them with student discounts and recently I have seen them go online for about 2,000-2,200 (before discounts).

@DOOM899: I don't use paint.net myself however I would wager that Gimp (free) and photoshop (not free) are far superior. I suggest you download gimp when you have a chance and start messing around with it's powerful features.

As for the link it works fine for me:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=szeqRzjePgI - Part 1

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vRt2kdn-QpQ
- Part 2

As for creating custom game types I don't believe it is technically achievable, the game types are hard wired into halo's engine, modifying that feature would require some serious programming skills in order to get it to work correctly.

Insert Kornman here

You can get PS for free though adobe, but only older versions. I think I have CS2? Ironically despite my praise for OSX and Macbooks, the version I have doesn't support HiDPI displays very well, and all the text is microscopic unless I connect to an external display. It should work fine for 99% of you people out there though.

I'm not going to get into a debate about the pricing again, but you won't find a computer that matches the Retina Macbook Pro spec for spec at a significantly lower price. Same goes for Mac Pro as well, the whole industry agrees that they are well worth the money for what you are getting, of course that means you need to deem what you are getting is worth the higher price tag. Seeing as I plan on using this thing for 5-6 years (my last one lasted me 4 and it was a low end one), 2k is worth the price for me. If you have further questions just PM me, I don't want to clutter up the thread.

I bought the first Pavilion tablet laptop by HP in 2008, had Bluetooth, 3 Gbs of Ram AMD turion X2, ATI graphics integrated, Windows Vista and it was $1.8K, the laptop had overheating issues, was a pain in the butt to open and clean the ventilation system, programs began to lag after 30 mins of use, it burned after 4 1/2 years because I took good care of it and know how to deal with laptops, but on the internet you can find cases of that same model burning in less than a year cuz of its overheating issues HP never corrected.

Right now I have an Asus laptop that I bought for $1.1K but after I find another job I will go for the model you recommended me.

I would like to get some more tutorials done soon, but I'm not sure when I'll have time. In addition to my busy schedule I just suffered a hard drive crash, so at the moment my laptop (which is the computer that I do most of my Halo stuff on) is out of commission.
