I've had this for a few years, and was given it to me by Viper Neo. For you who don't know who he is, he's one of the "founding fathers" of CE modding. He created the original tag converter which Tiamat used, ripped the first H2 BSPs, was a member of the Prometheus team, and countless other things. He's one of those people who made this community what it is today. A few years ago, he gave me a max plugin that lets you use H1 bitmap tags in max, as if they were any other type of image file. I'm releasing it now, because it's been used by some of the members of the H2SPP, who always ask me "why isn't this released?" Well technically, releasing it would be leaking it, but Viper Neo is believed to be dead, and if he isn't, he hasn't been around for years now. So for those who find this useful, the download is at the bottom of the post, so give yousrerf a minute of silence for Viper Neo, and enjoy. https://dl.dropbox.com/u/10778064/3ds/Bitmap.bmi

Is he dead-dead (deceased IRL) or just gone from CE?

I found this to be very useful, especially since it supports alpha.

This is good judgement. I also think you should release some of the other nice tools you have that could benefit alot of other people. Not for me (I don't do active CE work anymore), but for others. For example, I know you have this real-time tag editor...now seems like as good a time as any to release it all!

Have you ever used OSHEK?... Look in OS_tool, it'll hook into HCE and do it. os_tool runtime-cache-view

I'll make a video showing it off after I clean my desktop and find a screen recorder that you can make out terminal/cmd print in without me having to bump the font size up. Anyways, really, all you do is os_tool runtime-cache-view, then type help, it will give you options, go around, do what the help tells you to do. So, load, list <tag type>, it will show you all the tags and index numbers, you then open <index>, it will list the addresses for each section of the tag with a datatype, find what you want to change in there, set <address> <datatype> <data>. Changes take place immediately.

Trying it out now, can't seem to get the alpha channel to work. I'm using "alpha grate.bitmap" from b30. When I load the .bitmap as my diffuse map in 3ds, it still displays the alpha as black (just like with a .tif file).
Did I forgot to check something off?

Thanks for the reply!
The tag itself isn't just an alpha channel, though. There IS an alpha channel in the bitmap, but it's really the base map for the "alpha grate.shader_environment" shader. Basically it's a grill and I should be seeing through the gaps in the metal mesh, but instead all I see is a black space (in 3dsmax). Even when I hit "view image" in the material editor I'm able to view the alpha channel in the pop up window. Ingame, of course, the shader is displayed correctly, gaps and all.
Should I use "alpha grate.bitmap" as my diffuse and then apply a separate .tif for the opacity mask?
