If it could give us Halo modders new things to create, then it's not all THAT off-topic? :3
-I love how that ViDoc is making this time right now the "golden age" when, really, it's only a second Gilded age.. meh.

I'm not to excited. Looks like mass effect but as a generic fps. With lots of enemies.
I've never been crazy about bungie, the only post H1 game I can say I really enjoyed playing was H3. H2 was total garbage and while Reach wasn't as bad as H2 but still was a pretty broken game.
It looks bungie is just doing more of the stuff that they are weakest at, based off the vidoc, but I'll wait for us to get some real details before jumping to any conclusions.

Well everyone has their own opinions. As is well known, I loved the entire Halo trilogy, but was less enthusiastic about ODST and Reach. To me it seems releasing the burden of Halo has done them well, they get total creative freedom again.
Of course this vidoc doesn't reveal much details, but the environments shown were stunning. I did indeed also spot some Mass Effect influences, and even Halo influences. But that can be said for alot of sci-fi games nowadays.
Personally looking forward to more details, but this vidoc got my attention.

H4 and H1 are tied for series best for me.
H4 I like because I felt it told it's story very well, and focused more on the characters in the spotlight more so than any other game. I thought the gameplay was great and I enjoyed having a whole new race with unique abilities to fight. Also the elites were really cool this time around as well. I could say a lot about it, but to sum it up, I thought its story and characters were more interesting than any of the prior games since the first one, and the gameplay was really fun and fair even at harder difficulties.
H3 is my second favorite, but it suffers from the elites not being an enemy (I get the story doesn't allow it, but the gameplay suffers from that), having the Covenant in only 6 missions, flood only missions (with the awesome new flood why don't we have 3 way fights other than at the citadel?), and the Cortana mission which I find on par with the horrible library.

Cortana wasn't exactly the most varied level, but one thing it did very right. The flamethrowers... There's something very special about buring up a flood infested ship and everything inside it.

I like it, it has this...feel in it, only few games i've played has it, but what "feeling" i don't know, this would come out pretty good i think, its Bungie were talking about, and well, since we have all our opinions then yeah, not every Halo game has 10/10 points but they were all fun to play.

the game looks great but what i don't get is why bungie seems to have such a PC game allergy, its actually easier to develop on PC than for console and that alone would allow them more time to really polish this into an amazing game, but yet they avoid it like the plague

everytime someone mentions that name i keep getting reminded of this old fanfic that i found a long time ago. http://www.saber-scorpion.com/aaw/halo.php its not too bad of a story, and could make one hell of a custom campaign

It looks bungie is just doing more of the stuff that they are weakest at, based off the vidoc, but I'll wait for us to get some real details before jumping to any conclusions. Don't want to start a war, but I believe Halo 2 was possibly the best in the series. Playing roles from multiple perspectives and having a much greater story being revealed. Numerous environments that were fun to see. The new war that has sprung within the enemy. A feeling of sympathy for the elites. The godblam elites. One of my favorite parts of the campaign is the High Charity levels, where it is transforming from rich city to abandon $%^ing ship as you're playing. Multiplayer was great as well. Halo 3 seemed as if it was missing a %#$ ton of plot. Multiplayer was okay, I guess. Reach was a trainwreck. Uninteresting story, boring environments, and #%$ multiplayer (and lack of original environments as well) Halo 4 was better than Reach and a tad bit more than Halo 3, it had a deeper plot and kept me on the edge of my seat. Although some of it felt like repetition from Halo 2 (gondolas in Halo 4 when you take the pelican to the towers compared to being the arbiter on the quarantine zone gondola in the library....and in the last level going from structure to structure while cortana seperated herself reminded me of the high charity levels) But Halo 4 kept environments changing and interesting, even if some of the forerunner seemed overkill. The multiplayer environments varied from the campaign environments, and were also interesting. H2>H4>H3>HR ...In other news, E3 should be interesting with this being presented. Looking forward to whats coming. Edited by Invader Veex on Feb 18, 2013 at 12:58 AM

Word choice and spelling is the problem here.

Halo 2 was neither the best nor the worst of the series, so stop with all this righteous indignation when someone says that it is garbage.

I found Halo 2 easily to be one of the best. It's honestly tied for 2nd with Halo 3 IMO. It has the perfect blend of story telling and new gameplay that in some aspects Halo 1 didn't offer, and it also had some fantastic multiplayer maps, ones that still beat some of Halo 3's and even Halo 4's too this day, IMO.
It's all opinions, not fact, on which game is best out of the series.

I liked halo 2 just for it's story and soundtrack alone. the graphics were ok, but many a time I cringed at broken UV seams or the incredibly low poly scenery, or the low res textures saved only by the detail maps. many a time, halo 1 looked superior to halo 2 in terms of graphics. the gameplay felt ok in campaign, with most weapons giving a satisfying feel when shooting anything. multiplayer, however, is what killed halo 2 for me. most multiplayer maps degenerated into battle rifle fights, where any other weapon (besides the sniper or carbine) was useless to the accuracy and firepower of 3 bullets to the face. while the ending to halo 1 only hinted at a possible sequel (you don't start halo 2 directly after halo 1), halo 2 made it obvious that a sequel was needed, making tons of cliffhangers and ruining the ending for me. the physics engine was pretty cool, and the elite playermodel for multiplayer was an awesome feature. too bad master chief got sucked into a giant triangle while arbiter got a boss fight at the end. halo 2's storyline sucked. but some of my best halo memories are tricking in halo 2, glitching and exploring out of maps, getting the outskirts scarab gun, and coming up with creative ways to do the IWHBYD fight. for those reasons, i love halo 2.
