Hey guys, i wanted to ask this quick before my wedding on saturday.
Halo 2 vista has gone offline, and i'm very :(.
but, using OS 3.1, could we not bring it back?
normal maps, bloom lights, specular effects, vehicle boosting/boarding, etc.
sure, it'd just be a bunch of rips, but i feel that we could bring back a great MP experience, complete with H2's graphics.
what do you guys think?

Halo 2 has finally died after years of struggle.
It's not bad of an idea, though.
Maybe we can start making all those H2 ZTeam maps even more beautiful. :P Edited by Dumb AI on Jan 22, 2013 at 10:37 PM

that's what inspired it, funnily enough. my idea is to make it so convincingly like h2 that even altheros would buy it.

At least not in the near future. Sure, they can recreate the maps, but I'm pretty sure you want ALL the maps? Dual-wielding already offers many problems. Yes, it's possible, and kind of cool, but it takes up a lot of tagspace, IIRC. Maybe when Altheros dies this will be possible.

Why not just continue to hack away at Halo 2 until it reaches it's full potential? Edited by OrangeJuice on Jan 22, 2013 at 11:29 PM

Halo 2 will never reach its full potential. Not with the way Micro$oft castrated it.

Netcode in CE is far inferior to Halo 2's as well.

Yup, a person by the name of PaulusT made it... His Direct quote: "Explanation =========== When player A directly shoots player B, it will usually miss because by the time the message has reached the server, player B has moved. This tool will cause the hitbox of player B (and all players) to lag behind so that player A's shot will hit without player A having to lead. A similar technique is used in Source games, like Team Fortress 2, Counter Strike, etc. The hitbox of player B will lag by the following number of milliseconds: Ping of player A * multiplayer_hit_sound_volume + mouse_acceleration The technique is not perfect and the formula will almost certainly need to be tweaked. The defaults I have provided above have worked OK in my limited testing: i.e. Ping of player A + 95 Please check back at modacity.net/forums/showthread.php?24803-Release-Source-Halo-Lag-Compensation-Tool for updates and the best values to use. If multiplayer_draw_teammates_names is true, then the average of player A's ping over the last 10 seconds (sampled once per second) is used, instead of player A's current ping. The maximum lag amount is about 2 seconds." Source is here: http://www.modacity.net/forums/showthread.php?24803-Release-Halo-No-Lead-Fix-(Server-sideEdited by Caboose 14 on Jan 23, 2013 at 05:08 PM
