Far Cry 3 and Far Cry 2 editors kinda sucks, Far Cry 1 editor is another story, easy and simple.

I gotta say Far Cry has always had the best map editors of any console games.
Not much other games even let you edit terrain. Even H4's forge is just about placing objects on the map.

OH MY GOD! Red green blue lines! Why that means..!!!
OH MY GOOOOOOOD!
3DS max absolutely MUST have copied Sapien and ONLY Sapien!
Bungie should have sued Autodesk when they had the chance for stealing from them.

lol
Dude, please realize that many companies will use recognizable looking tools all around. It's not just one program, most ALL programs with similar purposes use the same schemes. It makes it so that people who are used to one thing can pick up their program quicker because it is similar, and similar isn't really grounds for lawsuit unless your company name is Apple and you have better lawyers than Johnnie Cochran.

As far as I know, Far Cry 3 runs on the cryengine. There for its probably just some like simple to use Cryengine 3 ingame editor thats made for Far Cry 3.

I'm pretty sure a lot editors/sdks use the red, green and blue lines. I find it represents the X,Y, and Z axis pretty well.

It runs on maybe 2% of the code from CryEngine1, the rest is Ubisofts own creation. It's been named the Dunia engine since Far Cry 2, which had a minimal amount of the code from Far Cry 1 (CryEngine1).

I find the editor to be okay, nice for simple maps and such. CryEngine's Editor is amazing though, you can do virtually everything with it.

I just realized that there is one other editor that trumps the abilitys of the farcry editor, look up the trainz simulator series. Try surveyor mode... Doesn't get much better than that.
