you guys care so much about this it is ridiculous. this isn't an interesting project, it's just masterz & co messing around for the hell of it, putting stuff from a newer halo into an older halo. that should come as no surprise to anyone regardless of the grandiose op.

there are so many bigger figurative fish to fry wrt. people making/paying attention to uncreative boring stuff in game-related communities as a whole, i don't understand the fixation on all the potential that's supposedly being squandered (or on the other side, how much potential there is??) because this particular group of people are doing what they want. if this was a game or community that mattered on any sort of larger scale, maybe there would be a point.

yeah wow, they could totally be revolutionizing the vast world of halo 1 singleplayer maps. how exciting. think of all the people whose halo ce worldviews world be totally reshaped, if only that would happen. come on. there are better places people can go if they're interested in serious independent game design. let these guys do their dumb thing without constantly being told how awful they are for not taking responsibility for the future of this particular not-even-has-been community.

They could making something new, along with the rest of CMT, and its true. Why waste pointless hours spending time just modifying already made maps when you could be making something new and interesting. It's much more rewarding. Who gives a crap if CE isn't a big community. The facts are true that CMT has potential talent that is simply going to waste, you included. No one has even called them awful, but rather have lots of talent, which they do have. It's just mind boggling that they would rather spend time working on something uncreative when its obvious they could do so much better. You of all people I would hope understand that, considering in the past you had wished to make a single player level while Masterz was gone.

Give it a rest already. We're a group of 3 (sometimes 4) people with little artistic talent with the skills or time to do our own "custom map". If we want to squander our time doing our own stupid project we'll do it. Like Lag stated, this ISN'T that interesting a project, it's us messing around because we have to much time on our hands. Some people will really enjoy it, some won't care for it. This project isn't meant to be the best thing since sliced bread or a shining example of how awesome CE can be. There's no reason to fight or bring up the same tired old arguments again and again.

it just seems absurd to me that everyone is making these long posts about masterz' latest antics. they don't even involve the main "talented"/"creative" arm of cmt. the people are feeling creatively satisfied and this community is not a big deal in any sense of the word. as far as i'm concerned, that's enough. if this was something more, if this was like that $2mil kickstarter for that one webcomic, there would be something to it. but this is just making hundred-word-posts criticizing and/or exalting the creativity of the equivalent of some dudes getting together playing their favorite 80s rock together in their garage. maybe some self-aggrandizing dudes, but it's still just dudes in a garage. who cares how creative it is, they're just trying to have fun and they're not doing any harm.

I do agree with TM, but just let it die now. You've stated the same facts over a million times, I agree with most of them, but there isn't much that can be done about it. If masterz and whoever else wants to play around with this crap, then so be it. We can't change there minds, and you two constantly blowing them out of the water isn't doing anything but filling up this forum with worthless posts imo. I get it, you made your point once, I think we should leave it at that. Bottom line is, you guys do what you do, and masterz and these people will do what they do. You both excel in skills in different sections of modding this game.

Anyway, even though this is a port, I'll still play it to see what the team was capable of doing. I've always had a soft spot for Halo 2 ports in the past for whatever reason that may be. Maybe I just enjoyed that Halo 2 era.

You guys are supposed to be experienced members of the community that newer members are supposed to look up to and learn from. You are acting childish by commenting on this thread, saying it is unoriginal, or criticizing the OPs abilities without giving constructive feedback. If you don't like this project, Don't comment. Agreed. CMT can do a custom level because a single person can. TM near the end of episode 2 was pretty much a 3 person team. I'm doing Takedown all by myself.

But I do believe CMT has the rights to do whatever they want with their time. If they want to make SPv_ then they can do that

Hearing how much time just fixing up the BSPs is taking, I still think you could have by now already had a decent rough BSP set up in a custom scenario instead. But yeah, can't force others to do what they don't want to do.

Come on, I could get a building done before I get to bored of modeling. Anyways, looking at bungies BSP models, that they actually consider doing that a valid way of modeling (Why bungie, why..), then I could do some of that.


Also, I might as well mention that in a lot of places, bungie had planned to have different textures along the tops and bottoms of walls (nice borders as details, etc) however it was dropped since the textures aren't applied and not UV'd. In the end, its just wasted poly's (which I've already optimized away (If I hadn't mentioned this, masters would probably tell me to use it.. well, its already cleaned up, sorry))

you said something about terminals, right? well, you could put the regret holograms as terminals, you said having the gondola portions as banshee fights? could you do something different, perhaps being on a pelican turret or something for the first one? I just think two banshee fights would be repetitive joined with the fact people would just fly to regrets final temple anyway...
and finally, why is the tank recticle a plasma pistol...

I don't know where you read the terminal part... but I was thinking of having the regret holograms be inspected by pressing E to trigger his translations.

Only the second gondola is a banshee fight (maybe now sparrowhawk fight since we can do sparrow hawks for the OS version).

The tank doesn't have it's own HUD yet.

ah, I see, I must say, the idea of a pelican fight on a turret I thought would have been quite cool as it would've been like the falcon flight from reach... still, I'm really looking forward to it, keep up the good work :) could I also ask, are you planning to do the arbiter's campaign and are the Scarabs in metropolis and the great journey still going to be v1, or will they be v2?

It wasn't ever supposed to play in the game, it was just a bonus, along with like 3 other tracks that were included by Hoobastank on the soundtrack.

One level at a time.

No H2 Tags.

Up to waffles for BSP 00, and Mootjuh for 02. Last I talked to moot he was starting to do the lightmaps now that all pathfinding and collision issues in BSP 02 have been fixed.
