I've talked to Maniac1000 and he said he MIGHT be able to use 3ds to light up the map for super sharp shadows. If I know my stuff, the lightmaps would be fairly large, meaning possibly less tagspace...
I herd OS lets you get around size limits?

^ Glad your trying to use max for the lighting. I know how to do it though, I have the slightest clue how to get it into CE. I think shadowing is a big part for making a map look good, so I hope you have good luck with it.

plus there aren't any shortcuts to speak of, if your stuff is crap then its crap.
not to mention the bonus of countless scripting functions and added tagspace, improved shader system, increased particle count, increased bsp rendering, more objects on screen, unit infections, random fp animations, better damage, more grenades, etc.
the list is much longer, but i cut it short so that i could ask, why all the hate on something that doesn't deserve it?

Go ahead and post why it shouldn't be used.
Saying that effects shouldn't be added to the game is ridiculous, it's what the community has been trying to do since Halo CUSTOM Edition came out.
Any further modification would be moving towards Halo 2? Okay everyone lets STOP everything we're doing. We're getting too close to Halo 2, it's time to stop.

Gameplay wise you don't need it at all. Visual wise you could make it look even better while still retaining your current look for non OS users while keeping it a .map.
There is no reason it "must" use it, but it sure would look even more pretty with normals that would only render for those who have it installed.

I'm not even saying your map should use it.
Just trying to understand what your problem is with it, when its a tool among many other tools that help modders achieve new effects. If you think that mods are starting to get too far away from the core Halo: Combat Evolved experience (at least visually), then I'd have to say that's real rich coming from someone who rips bitmaps from Halo 3.
Not that ripping is a bad thing.

I'm just going to say that I'm not a big fan of killzone's stuff, a good OS remake would be done by CMT or ki11a, otherwise it'd be a random OS remake. Start by handeling stock before using OS. I'm not even close to it. Used wrong, OS will just highlight the mistakes in stock tagging/porting
