Well, I think most are aware of this StarWars mod I have been fighting with for years on end now. Over the years I have kept this project mainly to myself not allowing much to be exposed or released but I believe I have reached a turning point to where the great folks here should get more than just a sexy pic of the hangar or a R2 Droid rolling on the floor. There is still much to do but beta tests are happening, work is constantly improving and progress is being made dramatically. The layout is simple. It contains TWO scaled StarDestroyers with an asteroid belt dividing them. The destroyers willl have interiors composed of two hangars, multiple tight corridors, familiar starwars atmospheres and lasers galore. I have a great team that has been working with me. Yoda is my right hand man with this. Along with him ReRoute and Kirby have helped me tremendously with any scripting help I desire. And alliedenemies are awesome for helping me with beta tests. Vehicles in the map will include: X-Wings Tie Fighters Millennium Falcons and R2-D2 Droids Weapons will include: E-11 (storm trooper blaster) DL-44 (Han Solo Blaster) Wook Bowcaster Thermal Detonators And some kind of triggerable explosive (details still being worked out on that one) So without further adieu.... The site is a mere wordpress template. I know the obnoxious photos your talking about and those will be taken care of.
And he is actually swinging on a invisible rope. We haven't worked out the rope part yet.

That looks REALLY cool, and it looks like a lot of work has gone into it. So far as I know this is the only serious StarWars attempt. I think this is just what ce needs.

I feel that the TIE Fighters and X-Wings should be faster, especially when you compare them to the ones in the movies, particularly during the trench run (scenery whips by outside the cockpits, suggesting that they're moving pretty fast).
Instead of "Halo StarWars," maybe "Halo: Force Unleashed"?

Instead of "Halo StarWars," maybe "Halo: Force Unleashed"? I mean no offense, but Force Unleashed is a blemish upon the Star Wars game industry as we know it. Halo StarWars is simple and to the point. Right, the name wasn't intended as a reference to the "Star Wars: Force Unleashed" game, it just seemed a bit catchier. It also fits both franchises style of naming things with... subtitles? That's not the right word for it, is it? (i.e. Halo: Combat Evolved, Star Wars: A New Hope)

I applaud your efforts, it's cool and unique.
However to be honest, it looks like total ass. The textures looks bland, the models looks inaccurate and boxy, and overall really distract from the potential this mod has. If anything I would recommend extracting assets from other star wars games, and using those instead.

Quote: Are you gonna make custom reticles for the ships Absolutely, we haven't reached the design process for the reticles yet, but we'll get there. Quote: I feel that the TIE Fighters and X-Wings should be faster, especially when you compare them to the ones in the movies, particularly during the trench run (scenery whips by outside the cockpits, suggesting that they're moving pretty fast). I have toyed with several speeds. Right now the stardestroyers are seperated just over 6 km. It takes each vehicle about 40 seconds to fly from one to the other. Thats pretty fast, and you have to take into account if they are too fast they are impossible to track and follow leaving dogfights almost impossible to engage. Quote: I mean no offense, but Force Unleashed is a blemish upon the Star Wars game industry as we know it. Halo StarWars is simple and to the point. I couldn't agree more. Thanks Quote: However to be honest, it looks like total ass. The textures looks bland, the models looks inaccurate and boxy, and overall really distract from the potential this mod has. If anything I would recommend extracting assets from other star wars games, and using those instead. That is absurd. Mostly everything you see here is my work. All of it custom from the ground up. I have close to 300 custom textures. Thousands of hours of devoted time in creation. Now its true they may look amateur and your right they definitely are. But damnit, its my work, my pride, my baby. You can take pride in a thing like that and other people will appreciate it as well. Now because these textures don't look like they came from a professional 20 year experience graphical designer from over at lucasarts you expect me to just trash them and steal their content? I have more respect for myself than that and you should respect other people that work hard on their art instead of just criticising it over a couple of images and grainy Youtube clips you have viewed and quickly label it as Ass. Quote: This looks awesome. Is this an OS only map or not? This is definitely OS and I don't know as of yet if it will be strictly OS. Edited by hoboscience on Jul 13, 2012 at 12:25 PM

Yes, the textures do look bland and the models look quite boxy, but in NO way that does that at all distract from the potential this mod has. I see no reason why graphical quality should in anyway affect the potential of this mod. The visuals are spot on in style and match the Star Wars theme, and the gameplay+plans seems perfect. Though in some cases, such as CMT's, graphical quality is expected in order to maintain a steady audience, this is a Star Wars mod, totally original, nothing else like this has been done before. I see no reason why graphical quality should take away the potential of that originality.

Besides, (ignoring the actual movies and Battlefront) the whole series is pretty retro to begin with -after all, it came around the age of the first Mario games and Pong. And we all know that, even comparing to Halo, those games' graphics are a joke. (Just for the records: I love those games too, but father time is really unfair to video games. Let's be honest.) I think the quality of this mod matches that retro-y feel... The Millenium Falcon etc. looks really low-poly, yeah, but I think it adds to the feel that a Star Wars game should give: simple and to the point, while keeping the fights fun and epic. Yeah, I'd like it if this mod is also ironed out and polished to CMT's level, but I think this is good in its own way, too. Besides, if you say this for every map out there, why isn't anyone bashing at Lumoria and how it essentially tries to keep Halo 1-level graphics? By all means, please keep the graphics at this level! Great work, and keep it up!

This is really awesome. Great job. I'm assuming your use of OS has to do with the gravity modifiers? Should really be interesting to see that used.

I tried in a space map. Well, it's very annoying to have 0 gravity without a jetpack... And I didnt find how to change the gravity depending on the aera, this should be included in future BSP tags, for exactportals aera

for those who want to criticise the look of the map, i think its quite unfair to expect the same level of detail that we have now seen in cmt's work when there is a team of experienced builders in cmt and hobo is creating this largely by himself. whats more, again to those who wish to say it doesnt look great, i think ur expecting a standard that might put a lot of inexperienced map makers off from making maps and learning how to make maps. just for the record, ive played this map, its very unique, fun and runs very smoothly. great work hobo, keep up the good work! :)
edit: nice find eleverex, however those vehicles prolly arent suitable cause the map is played in outta space
can anyone remember the map that looks very similar to this one, unreleased i think: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-j4jXzQb4BM
