I've heard that it's 60, could some programmer dude or something confirm what it actually is?

It's 30 ticks = 1 second in halo.

And yet I swear I once read it was 60, where are you guys getting your numbers from? Have you timed it or what?

Yes, but where did he get that information. The reason I'm doubting this is because I have often used the 60 ticks = 1 second as a rule of thumb for my scripts, and it seemed to give me the desired timing.

Make a hud timer, have it sleep 30, then change it. the time matches. If anyone remembers back to the Sonic Online stuff, we had a timer that counted up, we manually altered the time after each (sleep 30)

Lodex, I look forward to seeing your double-delayed scripts then. ;D

Lol, sorry, but I just hope you haven't done a 2-hour script or something. ;P

I said it gave me the correct timing, you have once again proved your stupidity.
Please go post on IGN instead. ;D

Lol, sorry, but I just hope you haven't...holy moly the Halo 4 soundtrack isn't actually that bad. Yes I was listening to those samples while typing this! ;P

Also note how I use stupid emoticons to act like I am winking at people, pretending to give them helpful messages and or tips ;P ;D ;O

It gives him the correct timing. Even if it is a weird and strange way of doing things, it works. Very weird; I mean, who thinks of doing things twice as long?(Thats what she said.) It obviously shows their perception of the world is flawed. Trying to help them will not save them. So don't dispute it.

If 30 ticks is a second, and Lodex has used 60, then a 1-hour script would be 2-hours, right?

Seriously, I'm starting to wonder who's dumber. Me for staying here and reading your trolling or you for trolling me in the first place. -.-

(Plus I'm a he)

E: Wait, nevermind. Clearly I'm dumb. If he's used 60, it'd be halved. xD

I was just noting how your timing'll be doubled. I wasn't even trolling. Obviously I was wrong though as after recalculating, you'll have actually halved all of your timings.

To answer the original question, as to the source (other than Kirby's real-time proof, which is probably enough in itself): I have a version of the scripting bible which clearly explains the sleep as 30 ticks being 1 second. I will take a screenshot of it when I get home, and I will also tell you the exact name of the damned .pdf as I can never remember it when I need to.

It's not that abnormal to percieve time differently than others. Not only is it completely relative, the perception of it is as well. When I work on Halo stuff, or game stuff in general, time "flies".

So no, my perception of time is not flawed. Nor is my perception of the world flawed. People who state stuff like that are simply constrained to their own limited vision and experiences of the world, which clearly is inside the proverbial box. Try to step outside it for once.

I also now recall where I got my 60 game ticks = 1 seconds from. It was in a "white paper" for some Halo 2 scripting topic years ago. Unfortunately I cannot find it.

When performing a scripted scene, it is best to lock the framerate at 25 or 30 so that ticks equal what they are supposed to.

...and the .pdf doesn't explain it. That is very odd because I had a specific mental picture of exactly where it was in the document. I suppose I must have read it on a Gearbox forum topic.

I am talking about perception of something relative, as I mentioned it was about the feeling for timing. Feeling, of something, relative. Does your brain not understand how this is NOT absolute? How this has zero to do with 1 =/ 2 ?

But I've given up on you l28, you are a pure troll and have demonstrated this once more. I recommend you get yourself some pills to counter that depression of yours people tell me about :p

That depression leads to jealous reactions like this towards superior forum members. But don't feel bad, you can still get the help you need. Look into getting some friends first though :)

Good luck man.

Yeah, it's pretty easy to understand why Lodex got his perception of time wrong.

I mean... I've only been on the computer for half an hour and the computer's lying and saying it's been 14 HOURS! WTF!!!

Stop getting off topic, get out of my thread or get on topic. ¿Comprende usted Inglés?

I didn't start this thread for all of your childish bickering, unlike Lodex (yep i'm saying something positive about You), all of you are spamming and ruining the point of this thread and i ask you NICELY to shut up.

Because I'm so obviously the only one that went off topic.

And this topic is so obviously not finished anyway.

Way not to hold a grudge, obviously. ;)

strange how you can try to comment on a persons personal life in a game forum lodex.
i have found L28 to be a decent guy, (may have done wrong in the past but sure, ain't we all) i don't know what the issue is here, you spending to much time in the 3d world or something lodex?
the reality is you ain't supposed to bring a persons personal life into a game forum.
just throwing out insults on a forum is child's play, which any muppet can do.
again i have spoken to L28 many times and have found nothing at all which might even suggest the guy will do anything short of laugh at the comments.

as for the source you claim feeds you, i guess they will see how you can't even hold your own water.
