did you read my thread if not read it.man I put up a thread to help people with lag on a50 map and they just ignore it and complain that it lags to much,if its really that bad get a new pc.

For some reason, I keep dying after like 5 minutes. I have no idea why. It's like soooo conffuussing.

Maybe try getting the OS version instead?

And also maybe try not being a jerk about it?

CMT in no way has any reason to cater to you or anyone else specifically. If you don't like SPV3, then don't play it. Nobody here could care less.

I gave Masterz my feedback on xfire, but if other CMT members are interested in what I have to say and haven't heard it from Masterz, here's my review of the .yelo, summed up in random bulletpoints, also note that I play with a controller with player magnetism enabled:
- First of all, the ODSTs look fantastic, with and without helmets (marine faces aside).
- The AR was well done as well, although I felt it could use a bit larger clip.
- The SMG, while powerful at close quarters, should have it's reticle turn red sooner. Playing with a controller makes aiming harder, so not being able to track an enemy at anything beyond very close quarters made the SMG very hard to use effectively.
- The battle-rifle seemed underpowered, as well as the carbine. To me these weapons are supposed to take on the role of the halo 1 pistol, however they have become more or less spray and pray weapons, rather than the gun that only took a few shots to rape elites (which was one of the BEST parts of original halo). And while the one shot in zoom mode is kind of neat in it's own right, it's pretty useless and breaks to me the expected flow of using the weapon. One more thing about the BR: it's 3 shot burst fires too fast, in other halo games you could kind of spread out your 3 bullets in an epic sweep of grunts, this is hardly possible now.
- I noticed that I seemingly couldn't melee hunters in the back, a tactic I often use on normal halo 1 and I do miss it now. However the charge-animation is nicely done.
- The brutes looked nice visually, and had a clever health measurement system. However in terms of gameplay they essentially were simply weaker elites. Although again they had nice animations. But yeah, they need to be more distinguished in their role, rather than simply replacing elites here and there.
- I felt that the covy turret was weak, I used it on normal difficulty to shoot some grunts and it seemed to take alot of shots to take even one of them down.
- The ODST's were too weak, even on normal difficulty. I'd expect the player to be able to handle most of the things while keeping most allies alive, this was however not the case, and ODST's were just a distraction for the enemy rather than even the slightest bit helpful.
- I also want to point out the contrast in exterior and interior of the level. The exterior, while pretty, was quite choppy on my laptop which can run Cryengine 3 on medium without any problems. The interior on the contrary, while running alot smoother, felt quite bland graphically compared to the outdoors.
- Another issue is the fact that you guys chose to use an old level. I have played a50 so many times by now that despite the great looking new assets, it was somewhat a chore to play. You always know exactly what's coming up and there is no real new adventure to be experienced here. Imo you guys should have focused on adding in that new BSP before releasing anything, even if you do plan to add them eventually.

So in an even tinier nutshell: Great graphics on the exterior, but choppy. Interesting new assets, that need more balancing.

Nice effort nonetheless! :-)

I vote Silent Cartographer(That is the level just after the lifepod crashes, right? I can't remember) because it's an enourmous level and it would be great to see what CMT can do with it both visually and in terms of gameplay.

Either that or the Pillar of Autumn. I really really want to see what CMT can do with the cinematics on the PoA most of all. Especially when you first get out of the cryo-tube.

Oh and I found a solution to my earlier issue: Brute-shot. Picked it up and bam, all the enemies are gone within like 5 minutes.

I need to work out how to turn the difficulty up though. It seems WAY too easy now.

I want Assault on the Control Room or Silent Cartographer.

Why?

Both are VERY respectable levels. One hand, you have a massive environment with which yoiu can just own at ease. On the other, you have a cool island level with fantastic forerunner structures, and a little bit of freeplay.

That, OR Halo.

However, my advice to CMT before you even start CONTEMPLATING what map next: Makje sure its a map that you can easily transition to (so mkaybe my ideas were bad.) That, and a map where you can be sure of creating custom bsps to make it fresher.

If you were going by that reasoning, which I daresay you were, old chap, when ylou chose T&R, Pillar of Autumn is for you.

Aha, Halo's the level I was thinking of, not Silent Cartographer. xD

Yeah, Halo would be the best level imo. It's got an enourmous landscape to explore and there are multiple forerunner structures dotted around. It'd also be great to gather HD marines.

Oh and about the marines... they're WAY too high-tech. They don't look cowardly enough anymore. In the 'vanilla' game, they were cowardly young marines that were probably only just recruited recently. It kinda shows that going to Halo's like the 'Last Chance' for human survival during the war against the covenant. All of the 'elder' marines are still on Earth defending the frontiers. They've got the high-tech stuff. The marines sent on the PoA are just young recruits armed with whatever the army could actually afford to dish out. Giving them some crazy high-tech futuristic armor kinda ruins that.

It was really fun, the hunters gave me quite a hard time : ) I really enjoyed this and cant wait for future maps. the only thing that really made me dissapointed was that there weren't any additions to the levels like on spv2 i really really liked the longer levels.

Yeah. The ship's interior model was obviously completely skipped.
Keyes was also obviously completely skipped.

Oh and the marines don't look cowardly enough. Only I'm allowed to have high-tech stuff!

Me found those too.

My review, which I know you've been aching for:

I LIKE it. Despite the fact it did feel really unfinished, it still had that finished sheen about almost everythinjg. Sure, some things stayed the same, but thats because of the stupid thing called a deadline. Anyway, I haven't found that flood keyes, but I did find those weapons.

Very good anyway.




My suggestion to CMT: Lay off some of the 'Easter Egg' weapons. Sure, they make ikt feel more lkike a proper product, and nthey are amusing, but they are basically the same weapon. The only excpetion really is the Badas s rifle.

Maybe add some skulls to find, stuff like that.

The brutes could use a LOT more redoing, they are way too weak atm.

Thats basiclaly all I have to say that CMT isn't DEFINITELY gonna do.

Yeah there were WAY too many brutes, and they were nowhere near tough enough. I killed them in like 2 or 3 shots.

The whole point of the brutes is that they're RARE and insanely POWERFUL. They're supposed to be deadly killing machines that the covenant send in as a last resource. It made it insanely pointless in the lift scene when there were like five brutes there BEFORE the Brute Scene which is when the Brutes are supposed to appear. o.O

I finally got the level to work, but only the regular version, unfortantely OS wont even work even though I've installed it and taken the suggestions into account that I was told both here and at modacity...

I'll let you guys know right now that while from the pictures utilizing OS that the game looks pretty awesome, but the regular content without it is down right bad looking in comparison. There is absolutely no shine or detail on the bipeds or weapons when there easily could be by using multipurpose maps. The map itself is also pretty much pitch dark - at least in the original a50 the sky allowed some light from the moon and you could see your surroundings. I noticed there was a more detailed exterior I believe, but I couldn't even see it due to the darkness of the lighting. It'd probably be more lit up with OS, but still. The team needs to accommodate both ends, not just one. I also for some reason had to disable my SMAA just for the level to work, so there was no anti-aliasing or anything which also brought down the view negatively.

Needless to say though, it did look alright for what it was once you got into the interior of the ship and could see alot of the objects more clearly. However, it's needless to say that the gameplay in this level is pretty much like the rest of what CMT has done in the past - thrown in new AI and weapons without even really taking the new stuff into account with the older encounters. While this has actually been more of a step up in other attempts, its still pretty much the same and there isn't much to actually draw the player in with anything new in the gameplay department. The gameplay needs something new, even if it is still reusing old bsps. It could easily be changed around to create new fresh encounters and keep the same objectives.

Anyway, I still recommend to anyone reading this to give it a go - its good for what it is and if you can get OS to work correctly you will probably have a more enjoyable experience.

I see no reason why they should devote resources to make it fully compatible with the regular version.

If OS doesn't work, it's probably because you've not followed the instructions properly.

I personally think CMT should start FORCING OS in the next releases. A50 is good as a preview for what OS is capable of, but if there are a lot more features possible if there is no support for non-OS-users, then I say make the next releases OS-Only.

If you can't handle the new dynamic lighting, it's easy to disable it through the in-game menu.

Ahh, no worries. A dll file was the source of the problem. I've played a bit of it now. I think it's great, it has amazing graphics. My framerate is generally good, but with motion blur and fxaa enabled, the fps can drop considerably.

How many instructions are there? I thought it was just a simple installer that required 1.09. That and replacing the .map with the .yelo. But I can't get it to work no matter how much I try, which is strange because my halo is no different from anyone else's.

I pretty like the version without OS (idk why, but i prefer the orginal halo 1 graphic ) Oh and very nice job guys, the map look awesome, except the ship interior ( need to work on textures, or maybe new bsp). And, would be cool if you add more bsp like spv2. Maybe need a new captain model ( MAYBE?! not very important ). Oh an the marines are little idiot lol ( because when there are in group, a guy fire and hurt a friend, little noob :).

But yeah, the cmt spv3 team and all guys who worked on the map are more primissing than the all old cmt teams(spv1, spv2, G3 etc...) ;)

Considering you asked me to leave the forums at one point, I see no reason why I should care what you say at all, 'Lodeman'. However, in this case a reply is in order.

I was in no way 'whining'. I was merely noting the fact that CMT should not be wasting time supporting non-OS-users as there's clearly some fault on their part, whether they know about it or not, which is preventing them from using OS. It's probably just an incompatibility between OS and another app on peoples' computers.
